it is a lot worse than i thought. i am not using any heavy armor, no phantoms, i always bow and i am just there to fight 1v1 (sometimes 1v2 when several spirits invade at the same time) at least 50% of the time they wait for another spirit/spam WoG/are flipping mask tanks and so on. one time when i bowed i took a soul spear and chaos fireball in the face simultaneously.
i know that most of the hosts are just as bad(or worse) but if i am there and want a duel couldn't you at least try? or am i in the wrong place for duels?

Forest is only for farmers.

It depends, I fought a guy cosplayed as ornstein today, it was fun and I was invaded several times during the fight, each time he stopped and let me kill the invader.

And yesterday I got 2 good fights too.
But yeah, it's very rare, I just got lucky.

Sorry for your bad experiences hosting in the Forest. But you have to realize most hosts are in the forest to farm hunters using gangbang tactics mostly - the tactics the hunters used against you simply reflects what a forest hunter experiences on daily basis (I guess we have a form of PTSD:x ). The forest is not the best place for 1v1 PVP since you can also be invaded by red phantoms so you may have multiple enemies trying to kill you at once.

You may want to try PW, Kiln, etc if you want a pure 1v1. Or if you are dead set on the fighting in the forest you may want to hide first then PM the invader and say you want a honorable 1v1 - I would say most hunters would gladly oblige since most of the time it is fight for our lives (i.e. 2v1, 3v1, 2v1v1, etc) when we invade.

i don’t have anything against fighting 1v2 most of the times it is fun. i just think that since they experience it very often they could refrain from doing the same thing. i have had a lot of fun and fair battles, both 1v1, 1v2 and 1v1v1. would love to fight against you sometime

Welcome to the forest! Dueling in the forest is somewhat rare. Most of us who come here are attracted to the chaos and lack of rules. Nonetheless, as an invader, I would absolutely engage you in a 1v1 duel, and I'll also kill other invaders who interupt us (I'm a DW forest invader at the moment, which gives me more flexibility with respect to other phantoms). But I also enjoy 2v1 (with me as the 1), 2v2, 2v1v1 (one forest phantom and one DW), and occassional 3v1 (again, with me as the 1) as long as I'm not attacked at my spawn point. If all you want is 1v1, you're in the wrong place! But look at it this way: you can't get attacked at your spawning location, and you at least have a couple of minutes to find the invader before your double-teamed. That's better than what invaders get.

I have been hosting for a while now.. Lately it seem the hunters are just as bad if not worst now than the hosts. I have been in the forest these last to days and what I am finding is only a few of the hunter will engage you 1 on 1.. Alot of them just run off until a fellow Hunter arrives just to come running in on the gange bang.. I have also run ito hunters waiting for me to finish the fight just to back stab me the min its over.lol.. But I have had some good 1on1 battles.. it just seems the hunters have become just as effective at jumping as the hosts. But I still Love the forest.

I hope I run into you, I love duels in the forest as a Hunter. I will every now and then invade and have a phantom 1v1'ing against a host and I'll just sit back and watch. After the phantom dies I'll let the host heal, bow, and join in myself. If they die I bow and just wait to be kicked out. Rarely I will watch and wait and in the course of the fight the host will spam WoG and when they get a moment flask up, then I'll Talisman and run in because obviously they don't want a fair duel.

I am only SL 89, but I'm pretty sure I can still invade upwards so I think that shouldn't be a problem.

You have no problem killing them for their souls/humanity but if they kill you they get a few souls, equally 1v2 is a even especially since you have mobs on yourside if you use them, or you can wait for a partner for 2v2.
