MID vs FAST Roll Empty MID vs FAST Roll

Post by Cachorrao Mon Feb 18, 2013 4:25 am

Hey, i've been checking around here, so many peoples makings builds focusing on Fast Roll but i don't see any diference in MID to FAST (i guess) so i curious right now, wanna know the diference between both...

Right now, the only thing i think is a good point in Fast Roll are the rings we can use, and not the only FaP or Havel, thats my case, i use both to let in MID Roll...

hope u figure out what i try to say here.

    Help?

Why people go for fast roll? Well...it's....faster.
Midroll is definitely viable too though, but I think most people just like to be able to dodge more and move around quickly, that's all there is really.
I think it's weird if you can't see the difference between midroll and fast roll though, haha!

There's a difference in I frames and (I think) speed. It was more noticable when it was the ninja flip but its still there. I feel slow playing with mid roll.

My reference is the weapon my build is going to use. If the weapon can stunlock mid roll is viable because you don't need to worry about dodging, you just tank hits and spam your weapon, win the spammage battle and stunlock thenm to death. For weapons that can't stunlock fast roll is the best choice because you'll usually hit and dodge. For example, the Great Club most useful moveset is the roll ground smash attack. Fast roll lets you execute this attack faster and more efficiently, meanwhile mid roll is well too slow. Try using a katana with mid roll, you'll see a big difference when going fast roll.

There are 4 different fast roll speeds alone, as shown by that video (though all have the same number of I frames) The mid roll is slower still andhas fewer i-frames. I don't actually believe that you don't see the difference btw, i think you've just missed the significance of the difference.

My advice? Play around and see what feels best to you. Builds by other people are ok but you miss out on all the fun you get from being creative and trying out different ideas.

I personally love to add flaws to a build because it spices things up a little. big grin

If you wanna get technical about it, it's got a bit more invisibility frames and covers a bit more distance, but if you're good at doging, then youll know how and when to roll be it mid, fast or fat. Tbh.. I focus more on mid. Fast is just a pain because you have to give up too much, whether it be protection or ring slots.

Actually shindori, fast-roll, med-roll and heavy roll cover the same distance. The difference is speed and, of course, i-frames.

Mid has less i-frames than fast, but as far as I can tell they both start at the same time. In other words, if you know when to dodge, you can do equally well with fast and mid (and fat). It's just that if you roll too soon or are dealing with multiple opponents, it's easier to get punished during your midroll recovery since your i-frames wear off faster.

I can dodge almost anything with fat-roll. The first time, at least. The second time... counter damage. silly

Using the roll backstab becomes less viable while mid-fat rolling.
