Non-divine weapons actually kill skeletons in The Catacombs?

Got summoned at The Catacombs and the host was actually killing the skeletons with a Black Knight halberd. Just want confirmation if this is true.

Edit: Oh wait, never mind. I know the reason why now.

Never heard of it being able to, unless the necromancers were already killed.

Tell us, what was the reason? Necromancers already dead?

What I didn't know is that the skeletons from the graveyard don't respawn, at least if you attack them with fire. When I saw the video I couldn't believe it, I thought you had to use a divine weapon or kill the necromancer first? And yeah, all the necromancers were still alive in that vid.

Maybe he was using a divine unique weapon(no upgrade icon), or necromancers were dead.

There's no necromancer in firelink shrine
