Re: What are "points"?
Its for your topic views I believe. You get more points from people viewing your threads and posts. Hence why points tends to be higher than most count.

Re: What are "points"?
They show how many days you've been a member, how many threads you've made and (IIRC) also how much rep you've gotten.
No one cares about them though

Re: What are "points"?
You get Points by posting in any Forum except for "Off Topic" .
So it kind of serves as a Post count for the Dark Souls section i think

Re: What are "points"?
To the best of my knowledge from what I remember reading about the admins talking about it a while back, points were originally going to be used for an additional kind of mini-game side section of the forums where you spent points to play games. You accrued points by posting and having your posts quoted, as well as a small amount you recieved each day as a bonus for being a member of the forums. Posts in the Off-topic section granted no points.
However, the side game section was scrapped so points have no real practical use. The only thing you can really do with them is see how often a person posts in the off-topic section. If their posts are greater than their points, then they generally go to the off-topic section alot.

Re: What are "points"?
You can also se how active people are. If they have more posts than points then they're usually active/have been very active earlier. If they have more points than posts then they're a lurker.
There are some people with ~5 posts and up to 300 points

Re: What are "points"?
On the 10th anniversary of this forum the member with the highest points gets a ticket to Japan to meet the maker himself and receive a vision that may or may not reveal the truth of the pendant once and for all. Be aware though that the member who is awarded this once in a eternity honor will first have succeed in a trial of wits and courage to prove he/she/it is worthy to exist within the same room as his Magnificence.
How points are obtained remains a mystery, but some people believe they represent an inverse relation to the amount of post you make complaining about other people ruining DKS for you, or your fervent desire for an easy mode.
