Girl in the trailer

I've been reading a lot of speculation into who the girl actually is, with a lot of people believing she could be Velka.

This could be a long shot, but my first thoughts were that it could be Fina - Goddess of Favor and Protection. She was "known in legend to possess fateful beauty" according to lore notes about the favour set, and we have a couple of references to the land of Carim from Lautrec and Oswald.

Also, what do we know of Carim?

Fina?! Why that is...Wait a second that's possible. Since there is next to nothing known about Fina other than some of the wild speculation involving Lautrec.

The only thing I hope is that there is not a romantic interest in her.

I think Velka probably more likely as the woman in the trailer hands you a feather, and Velka's Talisman is also a feather.

It clearly states Velka's Talsiman is a 'black tuft of hair', not a feather...

Like I said, the Fina comment is purely from left-field, but another long-shot at relating her to the trailer is the girl seems to be 'protective' of the hero.

Okay, you're right. Should have thought more about that.
I had another look at the trailer and it turns out that it actually can't be Velka because the woman has brown hair and the miracle 'Vow of Silence' describes her as a black-haired witch. Starting to think Fina is quite possible now.

It could also just be a totally new character.

True. If I had to put money on it, I would say it would be a new character.

The fact that she hands a feather to the hero implies that there is some relation between her and the giant crow. Whether it be something to do with Lordran or The Undead Asylum, since she is looking out toward a city, or maybe just with flying/travel in general.

Fun to speculate.

I think she looks like Sailor Mars.

Whoever she is, she wouldn't look out of place in a Final Fantasy game which hacks me off no end.

I was going to speculate that she was Velka, until I saw that the feather she handed the character was a hawk feather. If it were Velka wouldn't she be handing out crow feathers? I had not thought about it being Fina but even then I'm not too sure. Just look at the shot when the dragon flys by her and the hero. She is unsurprised and from the video it almost seems as if she's the one who called it down...

^She has brown hair which is enough to entirely disprove her as Velka. I like the idea she is Gwynevere/Fina.

Yeah this bothers me quite a bit too. Then again I hate Final Fantasy to no end while most like it. So I guess that's just a taste thing.

I don't dislike Final Fantasy, although I reckon X was the last classic game. Since then the characters have just become more and more generic. It's like playing with a bunch of teenagers and if they get any younger they'll be wearing diapers.

I bet my a** that Carim has something to do with DkS2. This Fina theory is not half bad.
Maybe if it's gonna be a prequel, we get to see why Lautrec was doing his evil deeds.
