Hydra Projectile Prediction

I always found the hydra in Darkroot Basin a bit unpredictable even with the tips I've seen online. What really irritates me is that his projectiles seem to go in a random direction with random spread!

Is it just me or is there an actual method to predict where they'll fire from?

Now, I believe you are asking if there is a way to predict in which direction they will go once they are fired. From my own experience I notice they fire towards you (the player).

I usually wait until I see the heads go back and the glow appears around the mouths (right before they fire) and then I run either right or left; this depends upon which side of the hydra I am closest to. I keep running until they hit the ground, then I rush the hydra as fast as possible before the next projectile attack b/c if you are fast enough you can run under them.

Anyways the best way to avoid the blasts is to sprint down a slope towards the hydra. You can do this both in the Basin and Ash Lake.

The hydra shoots roughly at where you were when it attacks and in the area around it. So if you run right at it or right away from it its unlikely you'll get hit.

Please note the projectiles have slight homing, so you need to move more then just a little out of the way.
