Getting Gravelorded is hard and it affects your Single Player experience so much. Eventually, we won't have any players to gravelord us or even maintain it. We need a Gravelord mode.

Re: Gravelord Mode
Yes... we do. I think it would be fun. Especially since I've not yet encountered one BP as of yet and have seen the message many many times that my world is no longer cursed.

Re: Gravelord Mode
If you could just turn it on and off it'd eventually get stale, but I think it'd be great if it happened randomly, but DEPENDABLY. Would probably be perfect if they could just get it to work as they originally planned. Can't believe in all this time they weren't able to patch it.

Re: Gravelord Mode
i've heard a rumor that gravelording really only works in NG+
it might also be broken because there are so many other limitations on who can and can not be infected. first there is level range to consider, than there is who might be within the same area as the gravelord, not to mention who might be in the same lobby and there are also failed connections to consider, and probably many other possible considerations as well.
i also don't think anyone knows exactly how the curse is supposed to work. i've often wondered what happens to the infected as the gravelord moves from one zone to another, like if they move between the depths and the undead parish for example. what about if the infected player leaves the area, beats the boss and whatnot? does the eye of death find someone else to infect if the connection fails on one of the three who were to be infected? what happens if the infected or the gravelord get shunted off to a new lobby? will the eye of death continue to seek out new victims or does it only try three players and then give up?
you add all that up and the chances for sucessfully cursing a player seem pretty slim to me. the curse only seems to work between friends who are intentionally trying to curse each other and have already established a connection through wss or rss summons. no wonder there aren't more gravelords out there.
i think it would be really simple and super helpful if the gravelord got a "player has been infected" message to know that it's at least working.

Re: Gravelord Mode
Basically when a GL uses an eye of death all local players can both see the sign and the eventual Gtavelord defeat message, the trick is that only 3 players with be infected with BPs and it isn't instant do to latency. Apparently From has admitted that gravelording was intended to occur in NG+ so while it is possible there is a significantly lower chance of a player in NG to be one of those 3 infected by BPs.
If a gravelord moves between areas while an eye of death is active their sign will follow them throughout the world in 5 second intervals but will only be visible if they haven't defeated that area's boss. It is also probably that they would still retain most of the players they connected to so those players would need to follow the GL.
Also in the event a GL is disconnected from the infected without dying there is a timer that counts down about 15min or so before the GL is considered defeated by your system, so in theory if they moved too far or players where disconnected more players could be infected in their place. (probably)

And then this is a great run down of how players get reliable infections, Al10005 as been one of the most experienced Gravelords out there since nearly day one-

Re: Gravelord Mode
If you infect certain areas...one can really get alot of SOV. Tomb of giants is a particulary nasty place to get cursed. I got alot in the depths, but it varies based on SL.

Re: Gravelord Mode
I think the "rumor" of it only working on NG+ is true, as I have been gravelorded in NG and I was only able to see the sign, but not the black phantoms.

Re: Gravelord Mode
I'm an avid Gravelord Covenant player and have 3 characters on PS3 gravelording it up. Only one is on NG+; SL135. My SL55 and SL15 are on NG.
I tend to get invaded a lot more by Darkwraiths than spirits of vengence. The only problem is you can't enter a boss fight when you've used an eye of death. Also, once you kill a boss in your area you can't get invaded in that area when the eye of death is active... bit of a beeatch.
In turn I have been infected in most areas; Anor Londo is probably the best and then the Undead Burg...

Re: Gravelord Mode
It doesn't matter if you, as the Gravelord Servant, are on NG or NG+ (and higher). What matters is if the infected player is in NG+. This means you should be in a general level range for NG+, whether or not you're actually in NG+.Halicarnassis wrote:I'm an avid Gravelord Covenant player and have 3 characters on PS3 gravelording it up. Because matching is based only on level (and can span any NG/NG+), this means your level 135 is most likely successfully infecting other players, MUCH more often than your level 55 and 15 Gravelords. The players in range of your level 55 and 15 characters are probably only in NG most often, which means they're almost always only going to see your sign and not the extra enemies.
Sadly, as fun as the idea of Gravelording a low level character is, it almost never works because of the fairly-strict NG+ requirement. Low level gravelording is almost pointless, unless you don't mind that the infections aren't working and just want to PvP.

Re: Gravelord Mode
Last time when I got infected and i was searching for the gravelord sign, some enemies turned into Darkwraiths (they were red) and they were A LOT harder, big mushrooms in the forest one shot me. (don't usually do that.)

Re: Gravelord Mode
I have an NG++++ mage that has been perm-cursed. About a month and a half ago I started seeing BP's. I've never come across a gravelord sign, and they're always in the Undead Parish. Anyone know whether or not they will vanish if I roll the game?

Re: Gravelord Mode
Have you tried waiting 10 minutes without dying, loading, or using a bonfire? There is an 'offline gravelording' mechanic where if you get disconnected from the servant, the curse will remain (even offline), and there will be no gravelord sign.Back Lot Basher wrote:I have an NG++++ mage that has been perm-cursed. However, an invisible timer is set to exactly 10 minutes. When the time is up, the "disasters are gone..." message will appear, and the phantoms will vanish. Dying or resting at a bonfire will reset the timer, allowing the phantoms to remain there indefinitely.
It's possible there may be a glitch that causes the timer-reset to mess up and cause a permanent infection... or perhaps people are just unfamiliar with this mechanic and accidentally keep resetting the timer for themselves. I've suggested this to two players so far- one said they couldn't get the phantoms to go away, the other said it worked after exactly 10 minutes...
