Ratchet and Clank: Full Frontal Assault/Q-Force thoughts! Empty Ratchet and Clank: Full Frontal Assault/Q-Force thoughts!

Post by Deathsitexxi Fri Nov 30, 2012 4:27 pm

Making this thread to tell how much I’ve enjoyed it the past few days (it came out only Tuesday) and wondering if anybody else has any thoughts about it. First off know that: I have all the Ratchet and Clank games and love them all, with the exception of All 4 One, which I did not hate, it just wasn’t an R&C game to me (had a blast playing with my kids though). This game isn’t a full R& C game either for you fans out there BUT it is great. It is in essence a Tower Defense type game but with R&C exploration type levels (which works better than you think). It has a single player campaign and 2 player local Co-op, in addition it’s got online multiplayer pvp and co-op (1-8 players). These are my initial pros and cons and I’ll update them when I have more time spent with the game =)

    Pros-

-The game is $19.99 and it is cross-buy with the Vita version (such a good deal)

    - Great addition for fans of the series

    - R&C type exploration that was missing in All 4 One is back!

    - The day 1 DLC that is priced is just costumes and characters. The maps will be free

-Provides some challenge when going for all of the medals and that encourages more play throughs

-2 player local co-op is awesome and I’m glad they kept it in their along with…

-The online co-op (have not tried the PVP yet)

    - It has a Platinum Trophy (doesn’t seem too hard to get either! With the exception of 1 trophy…)

    Cons-

-If you’re not a R&C fan the game my come off like it was made for children

-Game can be seen as short, with only 5 lvls (that I know of) BUT it’s only 19.99 and immensely repayable

    - There is day 1 DLC. It’s only 1.99 a piece (there are about 6 of them) and it’s just costumes and characters but I put it here because I know some people just can’t take it! (BTW the game is only 19.99 >_>b)

    - Some may say it isn’t that challenging because they blow through the game quickly and don’t care to go for the medals.

-The Vita version that you get for free when buying the PS3 version was pushed back to January 2013 (really though this is icing on the cake, just don’t buy it for this exact reason… YET)

    - With the combo of tower defense and R&C gameplay some will say that both are watered down versions. This is just me but I feel like there is more depth to the game but it can be overlooked.

I might get that, but I don't know. I will however be getting the first 3 hd remake.

The HD remakes are great. Going Commando still ranks as one of my favorite games ever =) If I had to chose between the 2 FFA or the HD collections I'd probably go with the HD collection too. Then later pick up FFA. Either way neither of them are expensive for the amount of content you'll be getting.

I agree, 30$ for 3 great games is a great deal. Going Commando is a great game big grin .

on a side note I'm also thinking about picking up Shadow of the Colossus, is that also a game worth every penny?

The Shadow of the Colossus HD version is an excellent version to own. If you enjoy trophies they have some tough ones on it. As for the game it’s extremely enjoyable but it can be slow paced at times, which is great because you get to take in the sights but it’s not so great if you get bored easily. The land is beautiful but other than the bosses you kill there isn’t much to discover, other than the lizards you catch and a few climbing about challenges. These are really small complaints though and shouldn’t be taken as a big negative. If it’s your first time playing it I think you will really enjoy it. To me it’s a game I have to be in the mood to play but I can pick it up anytime and it holds up, which is saying a lot. Also, don’t ignore Ico in that collection it’s equally good and some people prefer it, though admittedly not many will admit it.

FYI they are also working on an HD version of R&C Deadlocked =)

I'm a big fan of the R&C series. I've played all the games in PS2/3 so far, except for all 4 one, since i read/heard that it mainly focused on coop. I'll probably buy Qforce, if it doesn't get horrible reviews.

And a HD remake of R&C gladiator sounds awesome happy

Yeah last time I checked PSN + members get All 4 One free =) thanks for the reminder! It's a good game but it's just inthe R&C uni and not really a true R&C, it is great for local Co-op though =)..

Still loving FFA/Q-Force here for the 19.99 price tag it's worth the content...
