Halberd: Best Stunlock weapon?

I mean really, that thing does crazy damage, even when not buffed. It has good reach, and a good player will dodge fast after a missed attack.

1 hit against player with no/low poise will stunlock, and the main issue is that it seems that the stunlock in this weapon is infinite. That means it lasts until your opponent runs out of stamina. That's harsh when most of the time it kills in 2 hits.

What are your thoughts about this weapon? Both in general, and in terms of stunlocking.

It's my go-to pole arm. It was also the very first weapon in dark souls that I adored.

Well with no poise you're asking to get stunlocked to death sometimes. I agree that the halberd is good at stunlocking in general, but the only time I've really had problems with it is when getting hit by it at the wrong time. (Like from counters: catching me during a roll or during an attack)

My weakass character got through O&S and Artorias with the Crystal Halberd just the other day, so it's impressed me.

i love it but spears are better though since there's no stagger and they break the same poise(31 iirc) which really sucks since i always felt like the poles should break more poise than that. it hits like a truck, specially with leo ring.

But do spears have the same stunlock ability the halberd has? And I always go around with no poise (except when I'm making some heavy STR build), I just love to be swift.

Yeah, I'm just seconding here, but halberd is definitely no toy, it can really destroy just about any build with Leo. Halberd could just be the best choice for the midroller.

The halberd does about 350 damage without the leo ring. If your opponent cannot escape stunlock then this weapon will utterly destroy anyone, especially in the forest.

I love all halberd type weapons I must cause I went through the trouble of +15 all of them.

If the only thing you used it for was stunlock, then yes, it is bad. But it still has good reach, versatile moveset, potential for dead-angles and nice scaling for quality builds. I still use it and there are some combos that stunlock.

Why use so brilliant weapon only to stunlock?
