Why is it that my most impressive PvP victories are almost always 100% flukes?

Last night I was PvPing in Anor Londo, using my Iron Knight Tarkus build, and choosing to wield a +14 Zweihander instead of the builds +15 Greatsword (my reward for being such an overpowered badass throughout my previous PvE run). I was doing reasonably well (even if I do say so myself) with an approximate 4-1 win ratio, but my sweetest victory was a total 100% fluke, and here's how it panned out...

Starting from the 2nd bonfire, I bid farewell to Solaire, who was busy contemplating the virtues of having ones own sun, and proceeded to clear a path through all the Silver Knights up to the room where the titanite Demon had set up temporary residence. I say temporary, as it eventually fell to my Zweihander about an hour into my PvP spell. Anyway, I digress, so there I was trotting by the doorway when the much anticipated 'Dark Spirit [screen name removed to spare the poor guys  ] has invaded!' message flashed across the bottom of my screen. Hearing the sound of the invasion I immediately determined that the Invader had come into my world at the spawn point just before the O&S fog door, and so I proceeded to leg it up the stairs in his general direction.

Reaching the top, I careered around the corner just as the Invader was reaching the top himself, and in a split second perfectly executed a forward leaping attack, at the exact same time that the Invader was about to chomp on some Green Blossom, which lead to probably the most impressive OHK that I have ever seen, and certainly the most impressive that my sorry arse has ever been able to pull off. I absolutely pancaked him!

Now I would love to say that it was my intention to do this, but I would be a bloody big fibber if I did. The fact is I am yet to work out how exactly one executes a forward leaping attack, simply because I'm too damn lazy to find out, although this did not stop me feeling absolutely elated that I'd pulled off such a killer move, but at the same time I also began to feel such an overwhelming sense of guilt that I really didn't deserve to have such an impressive win (I mean can you imagine how the guy felt?) that I was compelled to write a quick apology to him.

He is yet to respond, but who can blame him, I'd be absolutely mortified if it ever happened to me!

It was still BLOODY SWEET though! twisted

Having just looked it up on this here wiki, I have to ask- In order to perform a forward leaping attack on the PS3 is it really as simple as push forward and press R2?

    Surely not?

If this is the case then why is it I'm not leaping about all over the shop, as I'm pretty sure that I've walked/run forward and pressed R2 on numerous occasions in the past, but have very rarely pulled off a forward leaping attack. :suspect:

Could it be that you have to do both at the exact same time? Why is it that my most impressive PvP victories are almost always 100% flukes? 3596227959

I can see a bit of testing coming on when I get home from work tonight! big grin

Someone please respond, I'm beginning to feel like my internet connection has gone down, and am half expecting to be returned back to the last bonfire I rested at here! lol

Yes those are the correct controls for a forward lounge. Different weapons have different movesets and, like the jump, the timing gets some getting used to so you will sometimes do it inadvertently and not do it when you want. Cookie crumbling and all that

Afternoon y'all, I was beginning to think as much.

Thanx for the response, I guess I'll have to get practising then. G

I love that jumping attack with the Zwie. It got me into trouble a few times in Sens though, as I go leaping after a serpent man, and launch myself into a whole lot of empty space.

Oh good, another method whereby I can leap to my death.

This always happens to me, I try to be all impressive and I either die or I wind up killing the bugger the normal way, or by complete accident my mess up turns into a god honest holy cow I just did that kill, like one time I was messing with a parry and somehow parried my target only to riposte him with my ultra great sword + Hornet Ring....it was fun
