It should be somewhere under options, I think. Or did you already try that and come up empty-handed?

Along the same lines ( but I already looked and didn't see this option ) on PS3. , can you make the HUD ( that's the menu, right? ), can you make it more transparent so you can see what is coming atcha while changing weapons, etc?

Then only thing that annoyed me about removing the hud was that the lock-on indicator also disappears. The only way to tell if your locked is if you stay facing the enemy while strafing to the side.

Unfortunately you can't fade the HUD, this is something I would really like. That or have it dissappear after a few seconds of inactivity. You really don't appreciate the graphics and art quality until you take the HUD off, but if you are using any magic or need consumable items, or fighting something difficult, you really need it on.
