Ornstein is like cosplaying as death while 2handing lifehunt, you have no realy defense and if you screw up you're most likely going to die. At least one hand R2 gives you some range.

Oh so that's what happened to it. It was fairly good in my view, it followed the rough plot of water margin/suikoden practically to the letter. I'd wager it just didn't get popular, I have a sad feeling the Suikoden series is finished

I don't really dodge unless I know what is about to hit me will do some damage. I try not to parry unless it's PvE and even then it's pretty easy. It's no joke I'll just walk through an area and parry/riposte things even at SL1.

LOL the only thing I parry at the moment is hollows... Id much rather just hide behind a shield, i time it wrong lol i press it too late

Yeah the timing of 2 handed attacks or any 'build up' attack like the hollow soldiers with longswords do, will throw me off. As long as it's single hand though, I'd guess about 80% chance I can parry it if I want to.

lol im okay with hollows, hollow soldiers, it's just the balders and anything else i cant handle.. havent even tried to parry black knights XD

Parrying a Black Knight is both satisfying and the easiest way to kill them in NG when you are weaker, the UGS/GA version at least. The sword/GS version is laughable if you know when to back off for stamina recharge.

The halberd version in my view is stupidly annoying to parry, I usually just bait him off the cliff now.

lol Black knights are easy any level i find, i just chain backstab them all now... i just backstab incessantly in PvE now, just makes any part of the game where you can backstab loads (anor, sens come to mind) retardedly easy

I don't even think it's possible to back stab if you start off as a knight at first. I really don't backstab much. If something throws up it's shield I'll kick then R2 with my longsword.

Those things scared me so bad NG+, I decided to go full turtle with a greatshield and everything cause trying to parry would get me killed. Those things alone are the reason I feel PvE damage is % based, 3 hits and I died without blocking.

Just feels that way to me, even with the damage increase there are some enemies that are doing really really high amounts of damage to me, I have like 55 VIT so maybe 1500 something hp?

I am just really not going to try. Some of the black knights are easier to beat without backstabbing or parrying but the silver knights are a bit to quick or in the case of spears, even more annoying. I'd rather not have another incident where I get cocky only to lose half my hp before getting my shield back up.

Actually this was probably back when I was using giants and doing fat rolls, all I know is I never got remotely close to backstabbing the swords unless they did that lunge forward. I'm still scared of them though ><

lol thats pretty funny, i always stay below 50% and if i can afford to, always whack on ninja ring, thing is a life saver in PvE

I have no use for it, I can wear Giants, greatshield of Artorias, and my longsword and stay below 50% without Havel's.

Back in NG the sword were fun to beat on, the spears are still annoying. For whatever reason they seem to like the sweeping move and I just never bother trying to parry that crap, is it even able to be parried?

but it is game breaking! At least it is if you are wearing armor that physically should not be flippable in.

You can parry any attack! I would say the silver knights are perfect target to practice ripostes. You just need timing and a good medium shield.

I really need to practise my parry, it's under par and im definitely gonna need good parry when i do challenge builds..
