Dragonslayer Spear

Hello guys, today i decided to make the Dragonslayer Spear, since i saw some videos of people rocking with it. I'm actually SL 85 and the spear reaches 394 Atk points when single handed and 418 when double handed, do you think the damage is ok for some PvP and / or Co-op in that level range? My actual scaling stats are:
STR - 28
DEX - 25
FTH - 18

Its really not that great of a weapon for the stat investment required. I haven't messed around with it in a while, but I remember the Demon Spear being nearly as strong for less point investment and weighs 4.0 compared to 10.0 for the Dragonslayer Spear.

1. Only R1 attack at max range.
2. Never R1 more then once.
3. Always flip away after R1.
4. 2 handing is best.

"people rocking with it" no s*it

It's only better than the other spears once you put a lot of stats into wielding it. Otherwise, even a lightning+5 winged spear should outdamage it. It's also really heavy; I wouldn't use it without being much higher level.

Not the longest reach. Demon's is longer.

at high levels the dragon slayer is at its best, at mid level... either the demon spear or silver knight spear thouigh you need 40 dex to make the silver knight spear shine.

If you decide to level up more and put points into the scaling stats then use it. There's almost no reason not to.

I'd go to SL 200 with it.

The Dragonslayer Spear is legit! In fact, I would say that all spears are viable options for PVP. Just keep your opponent at a distance and DO NOT TURTLE. You should definitely consider getting your faith and dexterity to 35+ though.

I'll probably make it later on just to screw around. Its the next build on my list to try. With 90 stability I can pretty much block any weapon attack for minimal stamina and trade with a leo counter. If they try to get defensive after taking a leo hit, then you can swap the bow in and troll them with that instead. Its not a top tier build, but it might be fun to own some scrubs with it.

Also just to prove my point why the dragonslayer spear isn't worth it. Raise dex to 24 just to meet the minimum to use the dragonslayer spear and its a whole 65 AR weaker than the demon's spear. 430 compared to 365 with the dragonslayer spear. Like I said in the earlier post, more damage for less point investment. The dragonslayer spear only comes out on top if you got high str+dex+faith. And at 99 for STR+DEX+FTH its 563 for dragonslayer compared to 510 for the demon's spear. But with 99 in only STR+DEX and 10 in faith its still 510 for the Demon's Spear compared to 470 with the dragonslayer. 40 AR difference. With 4.0 weight compared to 10.0, and if the Demon's Spear has longer reach, or even equal reach, then there is absolutely no reason to use the Dragonslayer over the Demon's Spear.

And it has more reach when you 1h it.

I've never tried to actually block a dark bead or pursuers, and just assumed its a bad idea, so I might have to eat one just to see if they are blockable. I wouldn't try with a heater shield, but a tower shield with 90 stability and a maximum stamina bar might be worth a shot Unless they just completely ignore shields. I've seen others attempt to block, but they usually had flimsy shields and was unsure if they ignored it or if they took guard break damage.
