Dumbest thing in the DLC that I've noticed thus far...

That hammer-like mini-boss that is guarding the Abyss bonfire.

It respawns and, when killed, it has a chance of dropping "loot." The problem is that it drops assorted pieces of Chainmail armor... :roll:

Seriously. What's the point? :|

I noticed that too and I agree. Both the drop and it respawning.

To me the mini-boss looks like a bag pipe with a chain-and-ball attatched to it.

At least it has high poise so you have you two-hand your weapon to get a good hit.

I actually thought that was kinda funny. Considering he's all bound in chains and drops chainmail

Is there any other way to get chainmail if you've killed the Burg merchant for his sword? That's the only thing I could think of -- possibly also why Chester's inventory overlaps a lot. And before folks snicker about why you'd want it, the chainmail chestpiece is actually a pretty great combination of armor and poise at only 6 weight, particularly since we're now in fastroll world.

I was actually thinking about that also. I recently lent the game out to a friend, and I was kinda coaching him through some of it, and he accidentally killed the burg merchant and refused my advice to start over, and you can't get a lot of that stuff either at all or at least not for a long period after. He didn't even have any of the boxes for the longest time. I actually really like the chainmail, both aesthetically and for practical uses. I find the helmet in particular tends to go with everything well and doesn't upgrade too badly at all. It also hardly weighs anything at all.

I think people took this as an attack on chainmail, which it most definitely is not, I actually quite like the chainmail armor, it can come in quite handy sometimes. My only complaint is that it's so easy to get (I just buy what I want from the Burg merchant) that having a DLC mini-boss drop it is rather pointless.

Even if said boss is, admittedly, wrapped in chains, at least he could drop a chain whip or something.

That would be pretty cool. Maybe a morning star? Like a whip that does some decent STR scaling maybe. Actually the only DLC weapon I missed on my first run was the Guardian Tail. I like the whips too.

I got the Guardian Tail. I'm not sure if I'l ever use it, but I mostly went for it so that I could experience the Guardian fight to its full potential.

Also, can someone help me out by telling me what upgrades Ciaran's armor?

that mob can be quite the hassle at low level, his thrust attack is fairly hard to dodge. Especially when you are trying not to get one shot by those oolacile mages.

One of the few NPC's that I sometimes can't bring myself to kill for loot before fighting Gwyn. I also find Andre difficult to attack.

I like getting in friendly brawls with Andre. Put on two un upgraded cestus, or bare hand fight him. Then pay my bail and go back to being friends.

that's actually pretty funny. I never thought of doing anything like that.
