    Your Dark Souls Music Empty Your Dark Souls Music

    Post by Rarayn Thu Oct 25, 2012 2:54 pm

    We all know how awesome the game's music is already. From the Firelink background music to Gwyn's theme, it's all great.

    But how about the parts of the game were there isn't any background music? Sure, it could be argued that the game has great ambience even without music, and that it doesn't really need it, but surely I'm not the only one who likes to have some extra music running in the background from time to time? (Granted, this might apply more to PC players than console players...)

    So what kind of music do you have on in the background, assuming you have any? If you don't have any extra music on in the background, does your character perhaps have its own theme song? (Regardless of whether or not you actually play it while playing.)

    Guess I'll start off by posting this:
    Spoiler:

    Not only does it have a title fitting for Dark Souls, but it's by my favourite composer as well. I tend to prefer instrumental music when looking for extra background music, so this was ideal in various ways.

    This is yet another one of those topics that fit me in perfectly. big grin

    Seeing as my two biggest favorite games are Halo 2 and Fable: TLC, i mainly play that in the background of a game whenever there is no background music in the game. Looking at the three games, Dark Souls, Halo 2 and Fable: TLC, it's quite obvious that Fable: TLC would be the better choice for this one game so...

    Fable: TLC:

    If i were however, to choose something from Halo 2 it would either be:

    Perhaps its just me, but this runs along smoothly with the DLC. Mainly the forest part.

    @Tart:
    Fable: TLC was awesome! Listening to the music against was super-nostalgic. I miss Jack of Blades. He might have been the most disappointing bossfight ever, but man was he awesome as a purely cinematic villain.

    @Rarayn

    Yeah. It's still my favorite game. And have you ever tried fighting Jack of Blades (both original and as a dragon, not upgrading health, using the lowest leveled crossbow? Now that is a challenge. winking

    Trying not to go too much off topic here, but just a funny story to share. I had finished the DLC, meaning i killed Mr. Jack 'o Dragon, and then accepting his mask. The game saved it, yet not. (xbox btw, not pc). So, whenever i load the character, i have his mask, but can still fight him over and over again. He is NEVER considered defeated. big grin

    I have no intention of playing the game again anytime soon, but that sounds like an interesting challenge!

    And about that glitch; "I TOLD YOU YOU COULDN'T KILL *ME*, "HERO""

    Back on topic, I sometimes use this as farming music:

    Haha, yeah. People say the game isn't hard at all. Maybe. Or perhaps the game is only as hard as you make it.

    Hell, if i could play Fable:TLC without being disconnected from XBL because it doesn't support the use of classic xbox games i wouldn't even play Dark Souls. That's how much i love the game. And lol at that reference. XD

    There's a part where the singer screams right after a breakdown.
    Ad it happened just as Artorias let out a scream.
    It was perfectly timed, length and everything. Just perfect.

    @Shindori:
    Dir en Grey is a pretty great band. Been a while since I listened to them though. Nice song.

    Another one I like to use, also primarily for farming:
    Spoiler:

    Matching up the movement of my character with the song makes farming less dull. It's silly, but hey, makes me feel pretty epic sometimes, so it works.

    This REALLY helped me focus big time during that fight. Damn, it was a good one.

    I listen to them. I own one their albums. I forgot the name of it though. I mainly listen to any kind of music from Chinese, Japanese, Korean music.

    I think this would go well with the Artorias battle, as well as the beginning cutscene:

    First link I saw when I entered this thread. You sir have won my lunch which means nothing seeing as it's midnight over here.

    I listen to The Final and Kodou whenever I'm facing a boss in Demon Souls. Except for Nito and the Gwyn their theme music is what makes their fights great.

    I also listen to this whenever I'm co-oping or farming.

    Tools albulm Lateralus as well as 10,000 Days are my favorites to listen to occasionally with DKS.

    Their mood seems to fit well with the game, but more so with the areas where you are fighting more often, or with bosses.

    @XachAttack:
    Considering time is immediately reset after defeating Gwyn no matter which ending you pick, that tune fits oddly well.

    @FruitPunchNinja:
    Castlevania games have awesome soundtracks. A lot of these seem like they would fit in perfectly with DkS.

    @Vinyl Scratch:
    The Yoshida Brothers are great. My favourite tune of theirs is Fuyu no Sakura, though I'm not sure how many parts of the game it would be suitable for.

    @GrinTwist:
    Are you implying that co-oping in Dark Souls is sort of like being drunk? silly

    @Chizfreak:
    They're one of my favourite bands as well.

    @BIG TIME MASTER:
    I looked them up after reading your post, and I'll have to agree that they seem to fit the mood of the game perfectly. (At least based on what I've heard of Wings for Marie so far)

    It really pumps me up for PVP and the new DLC bosses, though. I also often listen to Coheed and Cambria when I feel like aimlessly wandering through the game.
