Headphones for Dark Souls..? Empty Headphones for Dark Souls..?

Post by Isirith Sat Oct 20, 2012 3:54 pm

I've decided I'd like to play wearing headphones...

Only.. I'm not sure what to go for?

People have recommended Turtle Beach and Triton I think they are?
    It's a shame I can't test a pair before I purchase them.

What else do you guys think?
They'll be specifically for Dark Souls.

I hear great things about the official PlayStation headset. Haven't tried it myself, but I've got a few Sony headphones, and they're great quality. For the price, I'm certain you can't beat the PS headset. Look into it!

Headphones? If you've got the right cords, and you're by a computer, you can use anything, even Skull Candy! Which is what I do, and I very much support. Headsets break way easier than a chord and Skull Candy Earphones.

I think he's on PS3 or XBOX so using "anything" isn't an option.
Besides, my AX720's have a really thick cord and good build quality...they don't break easily.

Believe it or not my headphones must be in the region of 30 years old. They're Sennhauser, the HD 450 model and design wise they still look the business. When I got them they looked way ahead of their time and the sound is great with one rather weird exception, Dark Souls. It's the only game that I've played that they do not deliver stereo sound for, just mono. I've wondered about this for ages and if anyone has any suggestions as to why this is I'd be very interested to see them.

I have had a pair of X11`s TB`s and while they were OK I believe the pair of Tritton "Detonator" I have now are a lot more strongly built (how do I know this?because my TB`s broke on me,they snapped near the ear piece.),Also the Tritton look better and as for the sound quality I would say there is not much in it.

Which ever you go for both are OK although if you go TB then buy the x12`s.

"If you've got the right cords, and you're by a computer" is the important phrase that you should pay attention to, there. I have my PS3 audio going through my laptop so I can use my earphones. silly And I could do it with an xbox if I owned one.

Ps3 official stereo headset, there fricken amazing, you dont even have to set it up to your ps3, you plug in the usb adapter and it automatically sets everything up. there also great for listening to music on your pc aswell.
And there cheaper than most turtle beach crap you'll find. it cost's 99$ you gotta trust me on this one, you wont be disappointed. silly

I got turtle beach and the triton like people mentioned. And i must say that i like my triton the best. It had great sound and its pretty decent build. I used to have some cheap headphones but had to buy new ones like every 3-6months but since i got my tritons ive been using them for almost a year now and didnt have any problems with them yet. Also tritons are a bit cheaper than turtle beach if money is a problem.

I think the sound in Dark Souls in general got botched somehow. They definitely *** it up in the PC port, but even on console I don't hear a lot of the ambient sounds that were intended to be there (I watched a few vids on youtube which highlighted this phenomenon in particular, and it's incredible how much sound is muffled and shoved into the background. I don't know if a good pair of cans would bring this out or not).

That said, they don't seem as popular anymore because some trendier brands have come into the market, but no phones have ever matched the best Sennheisers I've heard. I've got an old pair myself and they only get better with age.

I facepalm every time I see someone wearing Beats ear/headphones. So overpriced, yet so retardedly popular.
