40/40 STR/DEX which is the better weapon?

Post by Slarg232 on Tue Oct 16, 2012 6:38 pm

Hey all, making a new PVP character and can't decide which weapon to use (Only have the Equip Load for one); the Washing Pole or the Claymore?

SL 99, 40 STR, 40 Dex, Power Within. I think I heard that the Washing Pole (As a Katana) can Parry, but the Claymore has a much, MUCH more versatile moveset and almost 100 more damage.... Any suggestions? Both will be +15.

What do you mean "can parry"? In the left hand, yes, you can parry with it, but I'm assuming you want them as main weapons, and either can perform a riposte when in the right hand. As far as which one is better, the Clay will be unable to stunlock come the DLC, so technically I think the Washing Pole is the better weapon, it's faster and longer.

Sorry about that, meant while two handing it, I don't think the Claymore can Riposte, but am not 100% sure on that.

No weapon can parry while two handed. All weapons can riposte except the Whips.

Well Katanas are the most boring weapon to use, so i would say claymore. Maybe try out a Straight Sword + Pole Arm/Halberd combo.

I too like the Halberd better, it hits like a train with 40/40. OP asked what the technically better weapon would be though, so I gave him as objective an answer as I could.

Any other really good weapons? I've used the Claymore to Death and am looking for something new to do. Halberd might be fun.

The normal Halberd is great, it does have a tad learning curve. It isn't just R1 mash like the claymore or katanas, but once you get used to it then it's amazing.

Leo ring halberd hits are so brutal. You can take someone down in a few seconds if you can time your counters right.
