    A Question That Decides Fate

Post by n0rain on Sat Sep 15, 2012 4:55 am

What does one do when it doesn't really matter if you win or lose? When regardless of the outcome you feel like the battle was just completely moronic? If I win it's because the opponent was a moron with 12+ WotG's and a rapier. If I lose, it is because the game's mechanics or stability was moronic. I can take losing, and to be honest if I win constantly I get bored. I remember back when the game first came out. I was unrivaled with a Greatsword. That thing and me were like two peas in a pod. I would win ten straight matches before losing one. I said to myself,"aside from how boring this is becoming, I do want to experience the game to its fullest." I did a complete 360 and went with a Bandit Knife/caster(No hornet ring, but first born ring and rofap). I socketed Thorns, Sanctus, and something else that made my miracles stronger. I was less efficient at killing to say the least. "At last", I exclaimed! I am having to struggle. I never went back to the Greatsword ever again. I've taken a liking to weapons like the Estoc, Crescent Axe, and Winged Spear. I'm never too strong or overly imposing. I took a really big break because people began to lose more. I started to get better with the bandit Knife. I started to abesolutely womp with pyromancy. It was getting boring. Then when I came back... What did I come back to?? Backstab phishers with havels and ninja flip. At first it frustrated me to no end, but once I stopped them more often it became just another part of the game(even if this is wrong). I still get backstabbed and lagstabbed and what not but it wasn't all the time after a certain point. I really enjoy protecting things or preserving things. I gravitated to the blades for this reason. I am now finding more enjoyment out of the WoW covenant more than any covenant available. Why you ask? That is simple, I still play how I want to, but I am not pissing all over someone elses experience since I don't BB. I think this game has about ran it's course with me. I can only defeat Nito so many times. Furthermore, both of my new builds are in NG+ and my Great Lord build is so frustrating that I feel like I wasted so much time. I have Sunlight Spear and it only does as much damage as Great Lightning Spear did in NG unless I have miracle boosting items which cant be done because the Great Lord gearset is heavy as hell even though damage caps at 500ish and has no poise to back up the short range(for a great sword),static low dmg, or poor defenses. The armor set sure doesn't feel light even though it is. I have a piece of gear that looks soo badass and is only obtainable by making the game harder but can get stunlocked by a rat... :| Seriously?? Who is the idiot that designed it this way? I know Miyazaki didn't intend for a lot of things to turn out how they did but was this intentional?

    Okay short version.

At release I loved the Greatsword- Me+Greatsword=unfair

    I stopped using it.
    Never went back.

Adopted other strategies and lost more which meant more fun.

My Great Lord build is worthless.

My sword does 500 dmg and is slow as a sloth. In NG+ 500 dmg is like having a +10 weapon in NG. Eventually you want to upgrade.

Sunlight Spear Miracle= Great Lightning from NG with flashier animations.

Great Lord Armor= Heavier than it should be for having piss poor defenses and 0 poise. What's the point of looking badass if you can be stunlocked by a rat?? :|

PvP is dying for me, but PvE isn't much better. What do??

Id say take a break and play some other games. Thats what i usualy do and after a week or 2 you start thinking about Darksouls again and make a new and exciting build and the fun starts all over again! (atleast that how it works for me).

    Good luck lol big grin.

The only failure is walking away from this game....

Play something less intense... a shooter perhaps. I mean Im playing borderlands and borderlands 2 for the next few weeks, so when you get all confident in your shooter gameplaty... come back and try DKS......and Prepare to Die!

Yeah it was rather rantish. Sorry.

I think I've found new hope though...

I present to you the best thing I have ever seen. I will be doing this from now on.

    Lol!

    Haha that video is awesome!
You can also summon solaire and lautrec at the undead parish on NG+ or higher and wait for invaders at the boss fogdoor. When an invader comes just buff your buddys and watch the slaughter big grin

Take a break, and try doing something different with your playstyle. Every time I feel overwhelmed with the Havel/Giant/MoM flippers, I go to the forest with my stealth archer build and troll the heck out of those gankers.

Whenever I'm feel like that I play something else or do coop, I can never get bored of doing coop. Especially on the dukes.
