Big Hat Logan - Do you have to buy all his spells AT ONCE in Duke's Archives?

Post by khalrhaego on Fri Aug 17, 2012 2:28 pm

    Hi all,

This is my first playthrough as a mage and I know you have to buy all of Big Hat Logan's spells (even if you already have some of them) in order to make him go crazy. The question is - can I buy the spells off him a few at a time while I am farming? It costs 183,000 souls to buy everything he has and I would really prefer to not have to carry all those around and risk losing them.

Also, any advice as to where to farm efficiently for this many souls? Thanks in advance for your help.

I'm just going to straight up answer the question in the Topic Title.

    No, you don't.

No, you can take your sweet time with it.

I'd recommend co-oping on Seath/killing the Crystal Golems in order to gain souls.

Awesome! Thank you... I couldn't find an answer to this anywhere.

I have actually never put down a summon sign... When you are summoned to someone else's game, do you still get the full reward in souls for beating whatever boss you face together?

    Thanks again

    Welcome to the forums!

To answer your question, you'll only get 50% the amount of souls you would normally when co-oping against a boss. Though even that is pretty substantial when you get a few runs in. You're looking at I believe 30,000 souls each time you kill Seath, and if you manage to find a host in NG+ or beyond it's going to be at least 60,000, not including the souls you get from killing normal enemies along the way winking

So I just farmed the crap out of the crystal golems, got the souls I needed, and bought everything off of Big Hat a couple of spells at a time but now.... he won't go insane. I have quit and reloaded, tried the trick where you go to Firelink and kill a guy then Homeward Bone back, rested at the bonfire.... everything I know to do and he still won't go nuts. I haven't beaten Seath yet but I thought you were supposed to make sure he goes insane before going to beat Seath. What's the deal? Am I missing something??

You gotta kill Seath. He won't hollow until you have.
