    optimal 31 poise

Post by omega Elf on Fri Aug 17, 2012 9:08 am

First of all is 31 actually the break-point or is it 41 which I've also read
mentioned, with that establish what is the optimal setup?

The 2 I currently use are:

    Black Iron armor
    31 at 15.6

    Havel's Gauntlets
    Eastern Leggings
    34 at 15.5

    EDIT
    Havels Gauntlets
    Hollow Warrior Waistcloth
    33 at 12.9

    I don't need 53 if I did I'd just use Havel's gear

yeah i mean.. sure you'll resist 1 hit, but it takes poise a second to recover after that and from there it goes in chunks.

you'll get hit once and basically it wont work again for you unless you back off for a couple of seconds... only problem is its a guy with a katana, not a massive weapon.

probably why theres not much mention of it. that and most armor sets will get you close too or past it.

I rarely get hit twice by katanas I just flip away but I know what you mean and
I allow time for it to recover before I go in for another attack

yeah its just that you basically have to wait for the entire bar to fill back up again before u can get hit again. with over 53 you can take a hit and since you still have poise left in the tank youll just keep topping it off and be able to take more hits without losing form in succession.

obviously bigger weapons will stagger you still, but it's a lot harder and RISKIER for them to get consecutive hits after you escape them.

    sorry for the horrible analogy.

0 Poise is really no good for me but with 31 I can learn how to avoid getting hit
too often, its the same reason I sometimes only have 616 hp it forces you to play
smarter or you get your a$s kicked

I don't even start 'fighting' till my RTSR triggers silly

Also Kirks chest/gaunts hollow legs (soldier/warrior) gives ya 31 or more...also light weight and good resist!!!

Many armor combos gives 31 poise. Choose a medium armor (ie. Ornstein's) and Paladin gauntlets. Lower poise armor would require the addition of medium poise legs.

Here's what I have now after updating my armors:
    http://www.mugenmonkey.com/darksouls/?c=1999415014017886

I'm not sure whether to go with an Estoc or a Rapier I just don't want any
    wasted equip load.

I say go chaos rapier its half the weight of the estoc so you can wear some kind of light head piece?

Also the chaos rapier does way better crits than the estoc, and the AR is close with the rapier being 411. The rapier will do about 1100-1200 dmg for a rpstl into decent armor, were an estoc would be 900-1000!

The 1 hand R2 thrust of the rapier with RTSR would pretty much all but OHKO people in your sl bracket anyways lol!

At Soul level 11 you will only be facing noobs and noobs who grief, so I would say poise is non important as they wont even know how to pvp.

I pvp in the forrest as a Forrest Hunter & often fight high level gankers
or solo hosts, If I encounter a noob I just switch out my weapon or use
dung pies but in either case poise is important
