A nearly perfect optimized build? Empty A nearly perfect optimized build?

Post by Fotitudo Thu Aug 16, 2012 3:26 pm

Hey guys, i need help with my build.
Im using a Pyro - Mage, which is pretty fun to use, but i dont feel very confortable with this one.

    Current build:
    Vit: 35
    Att: 28
    End: 30
    Str: 16
    Dex: 45
    Fth: -
    Res: -
    Int: 44
Rings: wolf ring and bellowing dragoncrest
Armor: big hat + black sorcerer chest/hands + thief legs = looks badass and nearly 350 magic defence.
The main weapon im using is velkas rapier.
Spells: GC, GCF, FT, CSS, HCSM

So what is my problem? My vit is 1200 which is damn low, and my weapon, i cant kick. Seriously this is a big thing for me...

So i want to make a new build, but like every (!) build i have, i need intelligence. So my thought is:
    http://tinyurl.com/9cs7ovq

On this build im using the moonlight gs, with 50 vit and low dex. So i can kick to bring my opponent out of balance, and hit him with great combustion. I(ve heard it only works with 45 dex, or my opponent can evade the combustion is it right? it will be pretty bad ...)

And why "perfect optimized build"? At least for me (on the paper), i try to combine my spells with my weapon and moves.
The moonlight gs is easy to parry, i know! But i can say my moveset isnt very predictable. Like, i dont hit often the r1/rb button after my jump etc. And with gc in my offhand i can bait the parry and punish it! Or do the counter parry and stuff.

And i saw a video from "dark souls mind eye" which he shows some good pyromancie combinations. So i really want to try them out!

And with my mlgs and armor set i have huge magic defence, seriously i laugh at wotg with even ~330 mdef. Just imagine that with nearly 400! I never want to miss that!

--- So no i dont want to use the dusk crown + rofap + wolf ring setup.

So what do you think, is the 45 dex casting speed such a big deal? Does it affect fire tempest??
And what are your spell/weapon combinations and tactics?

yea casting speed makes a huge difference. Its not needed, but when you fight a pyro or mage with high dex you will see the difference. You will get backstabbed a lot more with low dex, while casting.

I would say go with the low Dex one. Use spells that don't really depend on Dex, like GC, Fire Surge, CSS and CHSM.

I have almost the same build as con but Sith 30 end and 10 str and it works pretty good for me, a riposte with velkas rapier does about. 1k with no hornet. I would lower my dex to 20 or 30 and dump it in vit if you think you really need more vit and specially since you're only gonna be using velkas since the dex is scaling is so minimal. I would just go with 30 dex and dump everything in vit, maybe 20 dex.

But the only reason i need dex is for the casting speed. So 45 or nothing.

Velkas rapier is a very good weapon, but like every other rapier you cant kick. Which is pretty bad in my opinion.

So i have a caster without dex investment on sl ~30, so i play with this one happy
