My solution for the Bed of Chaos Empty My solution for the Bed of Chaos

Post by SlakeMoth Wed Aug 15, 2012 6:29 pm

I know I'm not the only one to have trouble with this s.o.b. ( a certain Mr. T. springs to mind) but I think I've found a way to make it easier. I'll apologise in advance if this has been mooted before but it might be helpful. This was the method I used last night anyway and I found it a lot more successful.

The first time down the slippery slope when you land, don't look at the Bed of Chaos, just scuttle as fast as you can to the RIGHT hand sphere and destroy it. This causes it to have a hissy fit but, as I think the right hand globe is the hardest to get to once the overgrown log starts throwing a tantrum, it makes sense to take it out first. I've always gone to the left hand one first because that's easy to destroy with arrows (if you have the Hawk ring that is). I nearly made it back to the wall but as expected I fell down a hole in the floor. Never mind, I took out the left hand one on my first attempt using a bow next time round and made it to the centre but was knocked off course when I jumped down. On my next attempt I made the jump and the rest, as they say, was a doddle, so I only died twice instead of 10 or 20 times.

Hope this helps anyone having problems.

You can use bow on the right hand too...Theres only one problem. If you don't place yourself right you will fall down a hole, if you place yourself right, you will ALMOST fall down a hole (The same hole DERP )

After you got one hand. Quit and since you spawn outside the fog gate you can slide down and do the other hand. (I got that tip from another Forum guy so when i find his name i will edit it in :3...RandelOolacile said you could Quit-Come in destroy, Quit-Come in destroy. ALL CREDIT TO HIM.)

The bow can be used on both arms but the right one is risky since you need to place yourself right.

I've tried taking out the right hand with a bow but like you say it's difficult to get close enough without falling down a hole. However, since it only starts smashing up the place after you've destroyed one globe, it's a feasible option instead of going for the logular with a sword.

Didn't you check the wiki, Moth? I had a video on there, but it wasn't complete--always meant to re-make it, but never did... Apparently someone thought they found a better one, but I watched a few minutes of it and it's terrible. Anyways, the easy way is:

    1. Run along the right wall all the way to the orb (as you said), take it out melee. It's easier to quit/load game and re-spawn outside the fog gate at this point, but it's not necessary.

    2. Run along the left wall all the way until you're blocked by a vine in front and a hole that appears on your right. Stick close to the wall and backtrack far enough away from the vine so that you can clear your line of sight, and take out the left orb with a bow.

    3. Run back along the wall to where you land from the chute slide. From there, look toward BoC, and you'll notice a tree in front and slightly to your left. A short distance to the right of that tree, there's a spot where none of BoC's arm attacks can hit you, so you can wait there as long as you want and never get hit. This is useful if you need to catch your breath, heal, or just re-focus. Just have to watch out for her firestorms when you're here.

    4. From your safe spot, run toward BoC until the floor crumbles at your feet. Along the rim of the new hole in the ground, on the right, you'll notice 2 tiles stick out farther than the others. The first is smaller, and the second, furthest one on the right, is larger. From the larger one, you can safely just fall straight onto the main root bellow, then run inside BoC to land the killing blow.

I recommend being under 25% equip burden, having GCS on your back, and even the cloranthy ring and mask of the child if you want. There's absolutely no need for armor, and your melee weapon can be anything at all (although I recommend something that can hit low to the ground!) no matter how weak it is. All you need is a bow and stamina regeneration.

Honestly, not to be rude, but I don't know how anyone can have trouble with this boss! silly

The interesting thing about DKS is how one players nightmare is another's dream.
I can't recall ever dying more than once on the BOC, and I'm certainly not the most skilled player here.
I just run direct to either side along that middle ring that doesn't crumble. Go with shield up incase he sweeps. After that I repeat for the second arm. I usually get close before he sweeps, but if you don't block the head on one and then turn around and wait for the second.
The key to getting in the middle is to wait for him to sweep both ways, block them, and then go in.

I think the better players see him as a freebie and try to get him finished to quickly. The key here is to take the extra moments to block his attacks. Humble, fearful players like me whose mantra is "be careful" treat this boss with the same respect as the Four Kings, or those goddam giant cattigators in Basin.

I didn't see your video BLA1NE, I worked it out for myself and I don't want to be rude either but your method seems to be merely repeating what I posted. I agree that the weapon you use on the right hand sphere is immaterial, it's the order you take out the spheres that is crucial. For the record I equipped the Shadow Set, Grass Crest Shield, Fire Iaito+10 and Composite Bow+10, Wolf and Hawk rings.

My solution to Bed of Chaos is to delete it from the game's files and replace it with another harder more boss boss, perhaps the Asylum Demon.

You misunderstood me. I realized you figured it out for yourself, my point was that I've been saying this since January! In the mean time, people have created numerous threads to complain about this boss, and all the while this fail-safe method was posted.

As for my video, I don't know when, but someone took it down. I won't bother putting it back up because it didn't cover most of the fight, only steps 3 and 4 (although 1 and 2 are self-explanatory...). But seriously, the video that's there now is terrible. The creator struggles in it, and even mentions that he had to do it many times to get that version that was pretty good for him--I don't want to know what his average BoC fight looks like.

I've always thought that From cut us some slack with BoC for which I am truly thankful. Can you imagine what it would have been like if you had to take out all three elements at one sitting and every time you died you had to start from scratch. Nightmare.:affraid:

BoC is hard in its own way, but I'm playing Dark Souls, not Portal's first room.

Anyone know why my feet catch fire sometimes when I'm sliding down the slide and other times they don't?
