I'll be straightforward here: I can't beat Murakumos, they perplex me. Can't you parry those things or something? Isn't there a viable counter against them?

They are deadly. If the fighter unlocks and dead angles you, you can't parry them or block them.

You can parry them, but they're difficult weapons to fight. Attack when you think they've run out of stamina. Also, their startup is a bit slow, you can use that to your advantage.

Re: Hard time with Murakumos...
All I can do is avoid them. Pretty much everyone I fight with a Murakumo knows how to dead angle that thing perfectly; impossible for me to block or parry. They also carry a hefty amount of poise so I can't knock them out of their animations. They are killing machines!

They are prone to BS as well (since slow startup and horizontal swings).

Re: Hard time with Murakumos...
Hmmmm.... im using the Mura for my 25sl samurai tournament, never used it before or even fought someone with it. Reim, what do you mean by non-lock dead angle? I will be using it 2 handed if that makes a difference.
Seignar, I use large weapons alot and people who can make me miss and make good judgements on my stamina bar depletion give me the most trouble.

Re: Hard time with Murakumos...
The Mura is way better 1H. To get a good dead angle, you unlock and swing at an oblique angle. You are unlocking to change the way you face during an attack to get the dead angle.

The best weapons against mura are halberds or anything faith reach since the reach of the mura is not that good unless they do the running attacks or backstep attacks.

Poison. I always keep a composite bow and poison arrows ready for menu swaps, and poison helps to drain their stamina pretty well. Also, toggle escaping.

I still haven't learned toggle escape. Are you suppose to hit it as soon as you get hit or during recovery? It never works when you want it to!

Pyromancy is your friend. Toss a few combustions their way or a whip or a stream of fire and it'll force them around. Or use a toxic mist and just ruin the thing.

Re: Hard time with Murakumos...
you can smash them with greatswords or spears but if you're using a small weapon like a katana or straight sword then BASICALLY you need to only use it for backstabs.
kite them with your bow and poison throwing knives, use your spells and wait for their buffs to be gone before u even consider getting close to them.
kicks and roll stabs are your friend.

Re: Hard time with Murakumos...
If their locked and attack your shield 2 times consecutively their very easy to parry,
though if they unlock and go ape-s*it just stand back and admire.

Yes this is very true if they aren't dead angling(easy to tell cuz they have to face away from you) the Mura is very easy to parry. You want to simply block the 1st hit...then push forward and parry immediately after blocking....pushing forward is VERY important because it creates a frame parry and makes it more likely you'll land it!!

Re: Hard time with Murakumos...
you have to push forward and parry at the same time, like a kick.
