If Gwyn had children, then who was Gwyn's wife?

Honestly, never even thought about it.

In the scheme of things, the actual answer matters little, because Gods in mythology often father many children via many different women, and sometimes not even (for instance, in Greek mythology, Athena is actually motherless and merely springs out of Zeus' head, and thus she is the Goddess of Wisdom and Tactics).

The actual answer matters a ton, and is the cause for a lot of debate. The current theory is that Velka, (who may be the first firekeeper) was the mother.

I understand why you think it's important, but there's a big difference between a wife and a mother. Gods f*cked whoever they wanted....sometimes, they even took women as animals. Sometimes their seed simply spilled into the ocean, and a kid emerged. Sometimes they get hit in the head with an axe and a child shoots out. They're Gods!

But, I suppose the important question, then, seems to be 'who is the mother?'.

Yep, married to the goddess of sin, just banging whoever comes along lol. Not every god has to be like that. Especially when they are married to the goddess of sin. Unless she was the goddess of sin as in sinning her self I dont see him cheating.

Haha, I mean I guess. Who's to say Velka didn't become the Goddess of Sin because her husband bedded so many others? If she and Gwyn were actually husband and wife to begin with.

He's got at least like 3 kids that we know about...I'm sure there are plenty more. He killed the Dragons, I'd say he deserves a little philander every now and again.

I guess I just view polytheism as a pretty ancient belief, and thus I typically attribute the morals and imperfections of ancient mythological Gods (as opposed to the more perfect view of God as imparted by more modern religion). Still, Emergence found links between the Lordvessel and some Christian thing I don't know. I suppose they could be wholesome and flawless Gods...

Then again, these are the same Gods who were at the helm of a literal holocaust of Humanity...

In either case, there are statues that depict a female holding babies, babies that have symbols that match with Gwyn's children. The interesting part is her clothing is designed like a Witch of Izalith, as well she is quite large though the size could just be for a larger than life depiction. IN either case, the design is similar to the Witch clothing, as well there are relations between pedestals similar to those found in Ornstein and Smough's boss room. Not to mention the relation of roots and trees, such as in Firelink. The woman is seated upon the roots, assuming to be of an arch tree. The idea of growth and roots would signify an older civilization closer to the core of the trees, like Izalith is/was. Not to mention, the relation of the Bed of Chaos...Makes you wonder...

I also thought the statues are her, but she isn't named in game, I think she's not supposed to be named or identified, and have a certain level of secrecy.

I agree with the Velka idea. It seems like all of the gods have their own motives for either helping or hindering Gwyn and if Velka is the crow that takes you to lordran in the beginning then this would show how she has her place in this mythology. She's either anti-gwyn helping the undead overthrow him or she's pro-gwyn bringing more lambs to the slaughter.

Check out the statue in the Undead Church (right in front of the firekeeper soul) asside from the fact there is a dead firekeeper in front of it, it's the statue of a woman wearing a crown holding a baby, who is holding a sword, sword meaning war (firstborn) and the crown meaning royalty (gwyn's wife) but nothing more on her, i say she was experimente on by Seath while she was pregnant of Gwyndolin, therefore born with his tentacle things and afinity for magic, probably resulting in her death after giving birth to him

That's totally...Feasable. Gwyn did leave Seath alone considering him right of mind to rule over Anor Londo and possibly all of Lordran, as his title suggests. A crazed abominable white dragon left alone to protect Gwyn's entire family...That is quite possible that he did experiment on her and would make a bit more sense in some regards. Such vast biological changes as Gwyndolin's tentacles would be a work of a miracle as opposed to something he was born with which is a work of a very scary concept. Then again, the maidens were turned fully so its still possible the tentacles were put on him after birth.

yeah, could have been placed after birth, but it's worth to note that the tentacles on the maidens resemble frogs, like the fetus of a lizard, no scales formed, and Gwyndolins have scales and all, meaning he was "hatched properly" in his mother's belly (just biology here), which resulted in the tentacles AND his affinity to magic...
After turning the maidens Seath realized he needed an "egg" in formation to test his scale forming stuff, and Gwyn's pregnant wife was just there...

wow... i came up with that myself... i usually do not think that much on something, but man dark souls do make's me wonder...

And to think people were thinking more about Priscila being a child of Seath's, when perhaps Dolin was something we should have looked at closer. Someone will eventually come in and say, "I already thought of that." But know you came up with the idea of your findings, so props to you.

Other interesting question is also, how is the father of daughters of chaos + their brother? Two major families in world and both missing other part of the parents.

Not to count that other family dont have named mother when other is missing father...

There is the concept of one of the Witches being his wife, since the garb of the woman holding the babies is that of a Witch of Chaos. It would stand to reason they had a long ago mother, or maybe the BoC was his wife before...That happened.

Also From released in an interview that Ceaseless is the Brother.

Just making some more discussion for idea of Gwyn's and Witch's releationship

"Lord Gwyn's firstborn, who inherited the sunlight, once wore this ancient ring.
Lord Gwyn's firstborn was a god of war, but his foolishness led to a loss of the annals, and rescinding of his deific status.
Today, even his name is not known. (Ring of the Sun's firstborn)

"An orange ring enchanted by a witch. Reduces lava damage. Since his sores were
inflamed by lava from birth, his witch sisters gave him this special ring. But fool that
he is, he readily dropped it, and from that spot, a terrible centipede demon was born." (Orange ring)

May be just coincidence and there are couple of fool sons. Or there is one son, who was enough fool to drop ring and loose his deific status.

And yeah this is kinda crazy idea.

Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't Solaire wear the Orange Charred Ring? If this theory is correct then we could draw a bit of a connection there. Solaire is believed by many to be the firstborn, the God of War. There are arguments for and against that theory. However if we can associate the Orange Ring with the firstborn in this way then that would offer some support that Solaire is the fallen God of War. Add to that the foolishness that results in his demise and we would have a trend of foolish actions. Of course this is all just connection upon connection of various theories but I figured I should say it nonetheless. Each theory has its own support and perhaps together they fit like puzzle pieces further supporting each other.

there is no way to state Solaire used the Orange ring during the fight with the centipede, and back it up, since he does not drop it when killed, plus the orange ring is the ring of the witches brother:

    "...Since his sores were
    inflamed by lava from birth"

this means he was born full of sores, and the son of Gwyn was not, also it is stated the firstborn fought in the ancient war against the dragons, and the brother of the witches was the youngest son of the Witch of Izalith,

also another thing, if the witch and Gwyn were indeed together, why did she lived in Izalith and he in Anor Londo, plus i don't think the statue's garb looks like that of a witch... sincerely, looks more like that of a maiden to me...
    interesting thoughts though

Solaire takes the correct amount of damage from someone where the Orange charred ring.

At the same time, with how the time is stated to work Solaire could have killed it in another reality or future, and has the ring from that. And has left his sign down to use the ring in other worlds to help others defeat the demon.
