by Rellim Mon Feb 06, 2012 6:59 pmI've had a hard time of Dark Souls, like you all have, but yesterday must have been my day of days as I got past both Anor Londo Silver Knight Sniper AND Picked up the Symbol of Avarice with the last Loyd's Talisman of the game (I killed male Undead Shop Keep for his sword so I only had the initial 4 you can find in Firelink).

If I could I would have my but surgically planted in front of the TV and do nothing but DS but lacking the money and science to do it I have to be content with getting in the little amount of gaming in that I can. That and work.
When I walked down those stairs to Havels Armory I was dreading having to go through a whole NG+ to make any further attempts. When I saw the item glow in its mouth I freaked out but then I only looted the Occult Club and felt so defeated that I nearly let the mimic eat me. But when it dropped after he was defeated it was pure exaltation.

What does the Lloyd's talisman have to do with the symbol of avarice? I thought that it was just a random drop.

You can kill mimics with Lloyd's Talismans rather than dance-fight with them.

Sorry I should have been clearer. The talisman doesn't flat out murder them (haven't tried throwing one at an unactivated mimic yet though) but it turns the blaggards back into chests so that you can chop at them safely and then rinse/repeat. You can also do the punching thing to try and get the symbol of avarice to spawn in the things mouth while it is subdued.
