Worthlessness
To consider the failure, the recession of one's meaning and purpose. Consideration goes greatly towards whether an end should have been swiftly dealt before frailty came rushing in the anguish. Facing the glass and seeing not the young rich body but one of wrinkles and necrosis. The life that is left only so that death may be held off until the undetermined time. Termination or intent being seen as the insanity yet sadism is believed to be humane.

Re: Worthlessness
Mate, the world is far more complex than ANYONE can fathom. And yet we strive to know more.
I've been through this. Tried to kill myself three times because I thought I had hit rock bottom. Trust the guy who was pulled up from dangling out a 5th story window, when he says that yes the world is gonna hurt, but if you can handle the pain, you can grow as a person.

Re: Worthlessness
Correct me if I am wrong are you talking about the worthlessness of a man that continues to age and before long becomes something that is worthless not only to others but to their very selves?
If it is I find this issue to be one of fear of old age. To finally look at yourself and no longer believe that there is purpose in your life and then the fear of a withering body that has become to frail to endure any activites that we once were able to do in our youth.
Unfortunately, as yeki has said this world is a complex one and I don't find there to be a simple answer or some sort of reassurance to this fear from others. It's one that we need to create our own answer for through our lifetime of experience and not something that can be answered in a few days time.

It's Eki! Aya, I've gone over that how many times now? Cloudy Eki >_>
Tolvo, we're the same age. Act it. After all, why judge the world when you've yet to really experience it.

Gah sorry Eki I'm not exactly thinking straight at the moment.
But you're right at 20 you really haven't experienced most of the world yet, I'm actually quite a bit younger than both of you and can freely admit this.

Re: Worthlessness
I was going to write a profound speech on why you should look up, but I can't be bothered so I'll cut it down to a few sentences:
People are assholes, and on the rare event that you find people who aren't ***(Such as all of you on the forums), base your judgement of mankind off of them for the only way to progress is by looking forwards and trying to see the best in others. I put up with people I loathe on a daily basis. I've tried to like them, but they're hypocrites, or judgemental, narrow-minded fools, and I can't stand listening to them half of the time. Now I'm not sure what this post is exactly, but trust me mate, you're one of the better people I've known, so look up and pre-occupy yourself with something else. It works for me.
*Do, do do, do do do, do do do do do do doooooo, do do do do, do do doooo, doo do do do doooo, don't worry, be happy*

Re: Worthlessness
I don't hold myself in high regard. In the grand scheme of things, my life has ultimately been one big disappointment. I've made alot of mistakes, mistakes I'm still beating myself up over to this day. Mistakes I'll probably never recover from. From an early age, I was picked on. Called stupid and no good so many times I began to believe it, and as a result has cause alot of problems with me as a person when it comes to self-worth. Ultimately, I've spent most of my life without holding any amount of worth in myself. I can name only two instances where I've genuinely felt proud of myself, and those have faded with time.
What I've learned is that when you can't value yourself, you have to learn to recognize both the value of others as well as your value to others. I may not value myself very highly, but I care about my family and friends, and I know they care about me. I'm not motivated, outgoing, or even really successful, but by in essence borrowing value of myself from those I care about at least gives me the motivation to keep going.

Re: Worthlessness
"Life will break you. Nobody can protect you from that, and living alone won't either, for solitude will also break you with its yearning. You have to love. You have to feel. It is the reason you are here on earth. You are here to risk your heart. You are here to be swallowed up. And when it happens that you are broken, or betrayed, or left, or hurt, or death brushes near, let yourself sit by an apple tree and listen to the apples falling all around you in heaps, wasting their sweetness. Tell yourself you tasted as many as you could."

Re: Worthlessness
Man gives himself his own meaning. If you don't find a meaning yourself, you will make yourself worthless.
We look to our ideals of afterlife, of animal instinct, of science, of spirituality, of morals and ethics, of the world around us, of conflict and peace... We look at these things and take up a means of how we want to live.
Some are intentional, and some are not; We go towards living a life style and thought that we want to follow, and at times need to follow. We seek to find answers, however many do not like what they see. Some reside in insanity, some cruelty. Some dive into finding for knowledge, while others seek for bliss. Some just live as is and use what they have to help them or others, while some may use it to destroy others or themselves.
Man gives itself purpose. We are not just a creature like many others that are just designed to survive both themselves and their bloodline. Man has a better sense to follow what they want. Man has many enemies and many allies, and each one is different for each individual. If you find that your life is meaningless, than that is your choice to follow that ideal.
You take a path one way or another, you don't halt till you die.

Re: Worthlessness
Believe me, through no fault of my own, I was in a very bad place when I was twenty. I've been in some bad places since then too but I've also been in some very good places and looking back the good times outnumber the bad ones. It's called life, so live it and embrace all the experiences life throws at you because you only get one chance.

Re: Worthlessness
Hehe, i feel like the only optimist one hear... Well as it has been said we as humans have departed ourselves from the so called animal instincts far enough to be able to carve our own path... Our main goal is reproduction but for our persona that is shaped by the world and by yourself...
As for me i think we should enjoy ourselves so when the moment comes we can leave this world with a smile... I always try to find fun in everything and help others, due to the fact im tall as hell and rather well built i never realy got bullied, i tryed to make life easyer for others and in the process for myself, i think no one should but themselves down as there are people out ther to do it for you...
So look up to the sky so bright and blue as you wont find hope lying on the ground will you now...

But sometimes one must view the well trodden path to find what they set out for.

Counter-Counter point - It just so happens that one must gaze at the dirt roads ahead of them in order to traverse the right one.
