Is it just me...... Empty Is it just me......

Post by Griever Fri Feb 03, 2012 6:30 pm

I'm currently on my first playthrough and have just offered the 4 Chaos Lord Souls to open up Kiln of the First Flame.

I have to say I found the 4 Chaos Lord boss fights (Seath, 4 Kings, Bed of Chaos and Nito) a lot easier than boss fights earlier in the game.

Now I know I have most definitely got better at the game as time has gone on but I just felt that some of the earlier boss fights in the game were a lot harder.

    Just wondered what others thought?

the earlier bosses were harder because you didn't know how to play but as you progressed you got better which made you feel the 4 bosses were easier.

What kind of equipment you had when you defeated four kings for example? Nito and Seath are indeed easy if you know the right strategy, and by experience, I can say Bed of Chaos is pure luck.

But no matter what equipment or strategy do you had, Nito is not easier than Gaping Dragon

    Its not just you.

But i found demon souls the same, the last boss in each world were too easy.

For Four Kings I used Havels armour set and pretty much just tanked them, Killed each one before the next could spawn.

On Nito i again used the same armour. I held back, used a divine weapon to get rid of the skeletons. I then strafed Nito and let rip lol. He only really did any damage with his AOE.

I'm not saying I did these bosses first time however, I did die a couple of times on each

I was disappointed with a lot of the bosses. The "hardest" ones just took luck, the rest were just simple.

Every boss came down to circle, 2-hand, attack, back up, circle, 2-hand, attack, back up, heal, circle. This is made even simpler if you tank... usually geting rid of the back up and circle parts of the fight. The hardest boss is easily the Capra Demon. If you don't get lucky you get 1-2 shotted by him. I'm not saying its all luck, if you suck at the game you're definitely dying but even the best need some luck to get past him.

I have to say the hardest bosses are to ones you need a bit luck to win, for me: Ceaseless discharge, bed of chaos and four kings.

Ceaseless Discharge was pathetic for me because I went to Demon Ruins at SL 75ish. I had really good defense + Black Knight Sword +4 so.......

I agree with you, the fight for instance against gargoyles when you're on first playthrough is horror. It's probably one of the hardest bosses for new players.

The other is O&S, which is crazy hard on your own.

I personally found Nito to be pathetic, the other lords were harder, he was a disappointment to me especially since he had this massive build up in the opening cinematic lol

Yeah there's a lot of effect of you getting better, but its the situation of the bosses coupled with being new (such as capra in small space with dogs, 2 gargoyles) that makes them more difficult.

Yeah same here, haven't fought them in NG+ though just four kings and they were more difficult even with all the gear and levels.

But the areas leading up to the bosses were easy as well. The areas leading up to and Anor Londo were huge compared to New Londo, Dukes, and Tomb of the Giants.

Pfft, thing is if you think about it, the levels are all pretty similar size, the only ones that are especially large are blighttown and Anor londo.

Id even say that new londo is actually pretty big (its made of of two halves and its horrendous first time through), while dukes is confusing and takes an age first time too.

nito is pretty easy, for me any way just wait for him to come to you then when you can attack him without aggroing the big skellies in back you walk up in heavy armor and give him a big hug (stay as close as possible so his moves mis and kill little skellies) using a fire weapon this fight finishes up in under a minute aslong a you remember to heal after he does his aoe. Gaping is even eaisier, you dance around until he charges and then thwack him on the tail, repeat until dead. whats more you can have a phantom stay out of the boss room and snipe him from the balcony drawing gaping's attention to a target he can't hit, then you just step back when he tries to fly and he'll be dead in no time. unless of course the channelers alive in which case you need to be even more conservative about when it's okay to run up and hit him.

I second that motion. My roommates tried to sit down and watch me play the game to see if it was any good. I happened to be in Duke's Archive at the time -- two hours of the same bookcase graphic later, they lost interest.

Also, I can't even comprehend trying to figure out the invisible walkways without google. That goes double if you were playing it offline, without the benefit of those convenient orange soapstone messages guiding the path. I mean..... yeah. Try to imagine that for a second. Try to imagine how evil you would have to be to design that.

I beat Seath yesterday and haven't gone on to the next area yet, kept busy with upgrades and new equipment. But that *** was plenty hard. Actually after I got done with my new toys I finally returned to Undead Assylum to kill the Stray Demon, and THAT guy killed me about a dozen times, even with my high SL and my super-duper armor, before I worked out an easy way to take him down with magic (protip: Crystal soulmass first, then fall control, THEN magic shield).

So, am I disappointed with the boss difficulty? No. Not at all. So far they don't seem quite as iconic as the Demon's Souls bosses, who generally had a sort of memorably-epic feel about them, which is somewhat lacking (although I'm looking forward to Nito)... but the difficulty is fine.

nito's a bit of a disapointment... his area's hellish but he's the easiest boss to tank, you could be completely overburdened and squash him as dodging has no use in that fight just stay close to him and hammer away healing ocassionally. also nit's not that impressive to look at, just a musty bag of bones with a sword grafted to one limb, of course if bosses were rated based on aesthetic appeal priscilla and the moonlight butterfly would top the list, note that nito also only has 3 attacks, swing his sword, aoe explosion (even unblocked it shoudn't get you to half hp) and his scream sword when he's far away from you (sword impales you from below)

Most bosses disappointed me. O & Smo were hard my first run/character, now, I can get them first try.
It's not that you learned how to be a good player, its just that 75% of all bosses' weaknesses include their huge-*** blind spot they have at 90 degree angles.

Nito should had infinite Tranquil Walk of Peace around him. This would make him much harder but still defeteable

He should be able to move his cloak around and cover himself for a short period. I'm pretty sure anyway when I wacked at his back once I got staggered like hitting a wall and did very little damage to him. I can't remember but if he doesn't he needs to inflict toxic and it needs to build up fairly quickly.

I think those adjustments would make him more fun~

O&S and the Gargoyles make for the best bosses. Taurus Demons on the first playthrough is fun aswell. Iron Golem is somewhat hard if you dont know what you're doing, but the rest are quite easy or just plain irritating, like the Stray Demon and Demon Firesage.

The most ridiculous boss fight has to be the Moonlight Butterfly tho. She's just so easy it makes me want to skip it all together, but I need the ember, so...

They should give Pinwheel much more health, you can kill him right after getting the drake sword, in about 3 hits

Agreed, he should have at least double health, maybe ever 3/4 times what he has..

Though i suppose he was made to be done straight after moonlight butterfly and gargoyles, so thats why he has low health

I could be mean and joke about how 3/4 in multiplication causes a reduction in the value, but I know what you mean.
Pinwheels area should be more like an arena, not a small square room where his only advantage- ranged magic, becomes useless.
