If you can upgrade to +5 that is, it may have about over 450 overall one-handed even without further stat scaling, I also hear its good for stunlocking. I got Gwyns Sword on my new characters first playthrough from a friend when i asked for it on my last thread, i am really enjoying it and i'm also fine with that kind of power in the next 2 playthroughs. tell me what you guys think of the sword, i think its just fine.

Who said it sucks? The stunlock on this Wep is only matched by Moonlight Gsword. For PvP it's a fantastic weapon.

The Great Lord Great Sword does suck....
at being sucky.
I use it a lot and really enjoy it. It stunlocks nicely. Has a wide sweeping R1 with a decent reach. And it obviously must be good because the word "Great" is in the title twice.

In my honest opinion, it sucks. I'll pick the Holy Greatsword of Artorias over it, that's how bad I think it is. It scales with both strength and dexterity (D rating at that), that alone means it'll be a waste of time. If I seriously want to stick with greatswords, I'll pick a maxed out Man-serpent Greatsword over it any day, as it deal (slightly) more damage, and it can be buffed.

You're ignoring its high base dmg. It's a great weapon. These are the first arguments I've heard against that.

At base stats a lighting or chaos clay will do more damage, most of the time, depending on the armor ( i have tested this). And the difference is mininal even when the GLGS outdamages the clay. The clay also weighs less, and is better at keeping them stunlocked, from my experience. i don´t know which one has more range, but i think they have the same range.
And when you level up, it would be better to use a 15+ clay. which also can be buffed.
It does not suck, but there are better options.

But in the long run, the Man-serpent Greatsword would be better. But I could probably be hating on the sword because it isn't blazing in flame like when it is wielded by Gwyn.FruitPunchNinja wrote:You're ignoring its high base dmg. It's a great weapon. From my experience, high poise damage = high drain on Endurance if blocking correct? So this Greatsword should also be better at breaking someone's guard, right?
I've never used magic, ever. Detest it from all the other games where magic is just OP garbage (with a limitation on mana or number of castings). How good is the Moonlight Greatsword? I see it used quite a bit, so I'm assuming it's awesome, and the 'downside' is that if you're investing in INT, then usually you're investing in DEX, so less left over for VIT/END; is this correct?

@IV_MARK_VI. Yes, but that´s only if you make a caster, i have a build that´s pure int. It just uses the MLGS/MLBH/VR. It´s very effective, since the MLGS and the MLBH are very good weapons.

But if you aren't buffing, like with a 40/40 build, the great lord sword is better than the man-serpent.
Basically both swords are better, for specific builds.
Nice job balancing From Soft, well except for some stuff. . .

I wouldn't try to guard break players with a Greatsword, it'll leave you wide open to a parry, a very easy to land parry.
