Dark Souls Cost
First off, I am a new user, and I was wondering what would be a good deal for Dark Souls. Would $20-30 be good?

Re: Dark Souls Cost
I would most certainly consider that a good deal. Dark Souls can provide you with hundreds upon hundreds of hours of enjoyment where if you think of a movie, you're spending $11 for 2-3 hours tops. With Dark Souls, you would be spending $25 for 100+ hours.

Re: Dark Souls Cost
It depends. I don't play many games; this is the first game I've sunk over 50 hrs into (I think I've sunk 300-400 hrs... ridiculously addicting).
This is a Dark Souls forum; you'll find fanatics on here. Personally, if you've waited this long, you may just want to wait until the new DLC comes out this winter. If you don't, I'd recommend picking it up at any price. An amazing game, if you're into the PvP and high difficulty.
Pros of this game:
Very difficult. Anything but a cake walk; you feel like you've accomplished something.
Excellent PvP aspect of the game. Online is where it's at!
Cons:
Respawning enemies. You'll find yourself crisscrossing and beating up the same enemies over and over. Some find this very tedious.
Griefers. People that keep their level low and invade people that have no levels/gear/ even experience. Sole reason is to piss said people off IMO. You can counter this by pulling your network cord though.
Difficulty. This is the best and worst aspect of the game. It is really hard. Make a mistake against a boss, it could be your last. You die and drop all your souls, and then have to reclaim them. If you don't use guides, you can expect to fight a boss 10 times before you understand how to beat them. Some people just can't take that kind of punishment. When you do win, you'll feel terrific though.
So... depends what you like. You'll find everyone has a positive opinion of it here on a Dark Souls forum. Check out non-biased reviews before buying.

Re: Dark Souls Cost
Be warned, once Dark Souls gets a grip on you, you wont be able to shake loose. Yes it's hard but it's the single most rewarding game I've ever played and I haven't tried PvP yet. 500hrs+ and I'm still addicted.

Re: Dark Souls Cost
Mark summed it up pretty well. But I'll explain a bit more about if you'll enjoy this game.
Dark Souls is a game that doesn't hold your hand. You don't have NPC's following you around telling you exactly how to beat this enemy, giving you sudden plot device items to make it easier to fight said enemy, as well the story is very hidden. If you want a story from the game, you'll actually have to look for it. Everything in this game is in some sort a challenge, as well we all make mistakes as players. This is where it shines. Dark Souls isn't actually that difficult compared to most games. In Super Mario, I'll die platforming thirty times in a row on a really hard jump, while in Dark Souls I'll only die ten times to a boss on my first try. The difference is in punishment. Dark Souls punishes you for your mistakes, you don't just start right where you die. You have to get back there, you can lose a lot in death. I do love it, but this might not be your thing. It's a game that treats you like an adult, and expects you to be able to handle the hardships that you will face.

Totally worth it for that cost.
The game isn't difficult, it just won't tolerate stupid people for too long.

I don't believe so, only if one buys the PC version because they'll get the DLC and Game.

Re: Dark Souls Cost
If you can, buy it direct and new. That way the money you spend on it goes to the developer (FROM) instead of a 3rd party (Local Used Game shop).
If you support the games/companies you believe in, they'll continue to make games.
