So I was invading Anor Londo a while back and I invaded a world of this guy and his white phantom. After a couple failed lagbs's they went into turtling mode, so I just made a test poke into the host's shield since he was standing in front.
Now, they were lined up nicely in a row and I was close enough such that I was poking both of them (through the host's shield, of course) with my spear.
The thing is, the both of them had their shields up and the host was in front, but when I poked I was actually dealing damage to the phantom through his guard.
Graphical representation:
Me ( V direction of poke)
Host (shield up)
Phantom (shield up) (getting damaged)
I assume the phantom was just as confused as I was because he circled backwards with his shield still up. I poked again and somehow the damage went through his shield, and he died. The host didn't seem to realize till the guy died because he only started flasking once his buddy keeled over. At no point in time did either party let their shields down (until the phantom died of course).
Has anyone experienced this before? I wasn't aware that dead angling was possible with spears, much less through another person's guard. I'm not sure if it's reproducible or just a product of lag, because I've never invaded any other host and phantoms stupid enough to line up in a neat row for me to try it on them.
