Upon getting backstabbed, please do not push any buttons and observe what happens.
Upon standing back up, you will immediately automatically turn around, even if not locked on... you will only do this if you push absolutely NOTHING.
Upon standing up this way, a person can not chainstab you. Seriously, try it with a friend, you'll never succeed.
Now immediately push L2, and enjoy your simple and risk free parry.

Do not do this with UGS because their attack animation is slower and your parry will miss, try to time your parry for this. But also another strategy is rolling towards them and when they attack you can easily get a free bs.

if they are using a slower weapon, adjust for that. Just do not push any buttons on your controller after a backstab, so they they can't get an instant backstab, regardless of the amount of lag.
if you roll, they can get a chainstab.

Thanks for posting this Rin, I was planning on doing something along the same lines due to recent encounters with folks complaining about Chain BS

I´m pretty sure there´s a youtube vid of this somewhere.
But i have had problems when doing this. If they just try to hit you and don´t try to chain BS then most of the time they´ll hit. Which kills me.

My main problem is someone BSs me then uses fire tempest...you can't escape it's like a insta kill.

Wrath of Gods, then a backstab after i got knocked down.
Chaos Fireball at my feet while i backstab your phantom, instant lava hit.
    TWoP.

Anything that is 100% unavoidable is not OK to me.

...Really? Is that how you're all doing it?
No wonder I'm considered nastily laggy, i have a LOT more vicious of a counter stabbing method that i use. When you do that method, you can be punished by the backstabber merely by a change of direction, and then they still get behind you without giving you a back to look at. Instead i play a circular game where i run against the friction, instead of backing off, the result is a backstab that glitches and gets counter damage; ie: it hurts as much as a riposte.

No, I've never seen this one posted somewhere as a counter method. I've seen it done in video's, but it's always back fishers trying to fish backstab fishers.

If i 'miss', I'm going to get backstabbed, the reason I'm getting counter damage is I'm getting my backstab a split second before your backstab: but right before the cutoff point that would make both BS's do no damage.

not quite sure what you're talking about..

sounds like you're running into them to circle behind instead of backing off and circling.

    do you have any vids?

How do you guys time this stuff?

I've done the 'let character stand up on his own, then parry' method against a chainstabber many times before only to suddenly be dragged into a backstab in the middle of my parry. Now I just backroll or whack them with my weapon, much higher success rate for getting no damage bs's or avoiding the second stab.

Don't press ANY buttons until on your screen you have fully stood up from the backstab, and then he can't drag you into a backstab.

By 'fully standing up' do you mean 'the character's already turned to face the chainstabber'?

I understand the 'no touch buttons' bit, but it also depends on when they hit their attack key (if you wait too long they can still chainstab from the front, had it happen against Spanish players once or twice).

I employ 2 techniques and I havnt been chain BS'd in months....if I see the oppenent go directly behind me for the chain BS I UNLOCK (that's the most inmportant part) and roll into them....however if you see them go slightly to your side you MUST do what Rynn is saying or rolling into them will land the chain!

If you don't press parry, it doesn't matter where they are standing, unless you move you are immune to backstabs for 0.5 seconds. You need to press parry AFTER their character has already started the attack.
