What to use to fill up my Equip Load? Empty What to use to fill up my Equip Load?

Post by ICEFANG Sun Aug 05, 2012 11:43 am

    Here is my current character:
    http://tinyurl.com/9mjtrcr

    Somethings about this build:

I don't like magic buffs, I just don't. I use Rotten Pine Resin though, don't suggest anything about my stats, I like my stats, and I don't want to change them. I also am dragonoid, it would be funny for someone to suggest armor to me, but no, its nicer to let you know, armor is a no no. I use Poison Throwing Knives too.

None of my builds are purely for PvP or PvE, so please keep that in mind, that it needs to be a solid weapon in both of them.

I have considered a few things:
Composite Bow, which sucks (that thing shoots way off!), so I prefer the Black Bow. I don't really like Bows for PvP and it feels weird using it with a non archer character. I may grow to like it. I do have poison arrows, which works together of course.
Notched Whip, apparently it sucks, I don't quite see the suck in it, but I haven't used it on another player yet. I like that it causes bleeding though. I can also make it poisonous.
A Mail Opener (tee hee, that weapon is so weak), Ricard's Rapier, or the normal Rapier. I like that I can use them behind shields, and can buff them too. But Ricard's Rapier is weaker and has less Crit than the Rapier does. In addition to the main question, I'd like to know your opinion on these, heck all, of the Piecing Swords. Remember, its only 2, so I'd like to know about the Estoc, but I can't use it for this build.
Dragon Claws, which have a terrible moveset, but are like built in Bandit's Daggers.

I'm plenty open to suggestions, but remember, the base of the build is fine, I just would like your opinion on that last 2 EL and on Piecing Swords in general.

comp bow is awesome, you need to time your arrow better if you are not hitting anyone, but it doesnt matter much if youre using poison arrowss since they still geet poisoned even if you mis unlesss they roll to the side, if they roll towards you or back they'll get poisoned and its awesome baiting backstabs. i would use a comp on the left side and a rapier on the right hand(empty slots) for a finishing blow. also i would use a great shield, i would use the iron shield if you can parry, also the heater shield is awesome for parrying.

Either a bow or the short sword. The short sword would be a better alt weapon then you think. It has a fast thrust attack and could be used when your ghalberd is to slow. You have perfect stats for it.

i just realized you're a dragon, so having a bow might be a problem. I for one do whatever it takes to kill a dragon body when i see they have a bow.

Against anything, the Composite Bow arcs terribly to the right, its not unusable, and its good, but I don't like that it does that. I put a lot of personal love into my characters, since I don't like the bow, I shalln't be using it. I also can't use the Rapier and the Composite Bow for that, since the Rapier weighs 1.5. I could use a Short Bow, but I also dislike holding bows in my left hand, because people think I'll be trying to kill them with glitches, and I also just dislike it, my R1/R2 (shoulder keys for us Xbox people), don't always work right... so I prefer not to have to click them both to ready and fire it. I don't understand, I guessed you said for me NOT to use a greatshield correct? I don't parry anyway. If you're great with it, more power to you, but as I cannot parry very well, and if I miss, I usually get stunlocked and die, plus I have very low Bleed and Poison resistance bars, so the Greatshield of Artorias is perfect for that. If you are making a parry shield suggestion, it is true the Heater Shield would be ideal for it, and I like the ability to parry, just so they are less likely to spam attacks, but I can't really do it anyway.

Did you know that weapons that hurt you through the Greatshield of Artorias actually inflict some Poison or Bleed? If they deal magic/fire/lightning damage, it will get you! That really sucks! (Not directly to you Rant, but I wanted to say that.)

I found this Shortsword advice very intriguing. I shall give that a go, but I am worried the short range will be problematic. Although its not too short, its much harder to wield them with no poise (I believe so anyway). I will enjoy trying out one of my favorite weapons though.

Mmmmm with 40/40 Rapier or Estoc, don't know which will hit more. Damage test. Choose Composite Bow, BBoP is too slow for PvP. Or Longbow with 40/40. Just use anything you want man your build is for that, for using a variety of weapons.

I can't use the Estoc, it weighs too much. Does the Black Bow of Pharis really take longer to pull and such? If that is true, I will consider using a Rapier and a Short Bow or a Shortsword.

I would use a bow. Even if you´re a dragon. i use a bow in second hand lot.
Most people wont think of glitches if you pull it out in the middle of the battle, and as long as you don´t run up to them they´ll just react as they would react to any other bow user, especially once you start firing arrows.

Yeah it takes longer. With 40/40 composite will hit too hard and very fast. Short bow is best for <11 Str builds with high Dex (rapiers, daggers, curved swords builds).

greatshield of artorias is not that great if you go up agaist that can dead angle and it doesnt even protect you against poison. use a bow and dont worry about people thinking youre a glitcher because of it since as soon as they see that youre a dragon that's what they will think anyway, i know i always chain bs drgons unlesss they prove that they are not glitching which is usually by a pm after i chain bs them lol.

I always wanted to use that damn shield for PvP. It's so damn classy and I don't like parrying so it's perfect for me. The thing is I'm mostly 2 handling the weapons so the I would only use it for shield + 1HR1 combo, such as the Hand Axe.

I'm not avoiding the bow because I don't want to be seen as a glitcher first (it is a minor reason), I'm avoiding it because I don't like it, I will consider using another bow, but it won't be the Composite Bow. I don't block that often, but I do prefer a solid shield. There is no real reason to use a different shield other than to give me some EL, and I don't really want to change my shields. Please remember, that, while your advice is appreciated, and I do mean it, I don't want to change my shield or my halberd. I only want to fill up the last two ELs.

omega Elf, your reasoning is quite amazing, I think I will change the build completely because of your post and use the Spear and the Wolf Ring, even though that's not the purpose of this thread whatsoever.

Although I doubt that anyone of you really cares cares, I have decided that, after deciding the Rapier is better than Ricard's Rapier, even though its like a chainsaw, to go with Rapier and Short Bow, and although Wyrm didn't really make that choice for me, I will give him thanks for it.

The short sword was, I think, the most unqiue answer, so I gave Fruit some rep too, but thank you for everyone that posted in the thread and gave ideas.

Having 3 weapons, each quite different, is amazing, I never expected the ability to adjust your style so quickly and easily so effective. Thanks again!
