Fist night as a gravelord... Empty Fist night as a gravelord...

Post by nhbdy Sat Feb 04, 2012 4:45 am

I have a level 100 moonlight GS build I just completed tonight, I started thinking, I want to pvp, but what has the most flair? the most style?

Naturally being the evil mastermind I am I came up with gravelording, drawing helpless victims into my web of slaughter BWAHAHAHAHA!

Only one problem... I'm brand spanking new... And honor is no guarantee among spirits of vengeance...

Well I have about 5 eyes of death sitting around doing nothing anyway, I'll have fun with it! I thought. And so I did! the purpose of this post is to express my joy and pleasant surprise when I found easily 90% of my opponents to be honorable, and a few even donated eyes of death to me! Oh charitable souls it kept me going after defeat after defeat after defeat. And then I won! Nothing felt greater in all my time in Dark Souls! Beating a player in one on one honorable combat while he showed skill and understanding of my style and I his (for I had faced him twice before)! This elation soared as the next spirit took his place and began our next engagement, back to back, I fought long and hard into the wee hours of the morning. At the end I had a kill streak of five! FIVE! From me, a newcomer to the field! Oh I have had a lucky and good night, for surely bits of luck and skill must have been involved, but mostly the greatness and relief of having honorable treatment, it is in such stark contrast to the wretched forest and random invades that are honorless and often heavily weighted towards one side winning, this was not tonight and I am proud to say this experience has made me a career gravelord! LONG LIVE NITO!

Glad you liked it, and for reference I was at the undead burg, it is important that you do not kill the boss of the area you intend on gravelording, as most of my fights were darkwraiths, I'd usually lay down an eye, fight a darkwraith, usually during this fight a spirit would show up, but this was not a certainty.

This may also be of use to you:

EDIT: the reason you don't want to kill the boss, for those who may not know is it allows darkwraiths to invade, and with the gravelord curse active the cooldown for invading you is constantly reset, making it so you are always able to be invaded, similar to using a dried finger

Its good to hear positive things about the gravelord covenant. I have done a lot of gravelording and that link that you gave IMO is the most concise and clear explanation of the gravelord covenant and how it works. Thanks for posting! cheers Praise the gravelord! haha

Some of my favorite areas to gravelord include dark anor londo, by the twin giants at the steps by the big door, and in darkroot garden, right near the bonfire. Good luck!

i've noticed a big increase to the amount of times I've been cursed. It's really impressive. I keep one toon for cursing as well although the spots to curse become more limited as you progress. Painted world though is always a good spot.

Had a cursed Sens fortress last night. Even with a phantom helping it was near impossible with out bows. The snakehead guys hit really hard and they were literally everywhere.

... that is just evil... cursing a deathtrap like sens... I may have to make a character specifically for that purpose!

    gravelord update:

last night, same guy online, cursed me at sens, first part of anor londo, and second part of anor londo. ridiculous. definitely a welcomed challenge after so many playthroughs. But the increase in difficulty is crazy. Not to mention the red phantoms can appear literally right behind you without you even know it.
