I would decrease your faith and put dex up more. Havels ring is a good idea with that armor unless you like fatty rolling. In my opinion i think you should level up some more to raise dex, stam, and strength.

Do you mind showing me how you would build it?

I don't think any crecent axe build can be good. Functional yes, but not good. Try the battle axe maybe? Its short but it will hit harder.

I have to agree with forum, although i do think the crescent axe is a cool weapon. Also, that 52 poise is driving my ocd crazy. I would NEVER be able to pvp with 52 poise, not because i need to tank greatsword hits but because its so damn close to 53 lol.

Re: Good Crescent Axe/sl.60 build?
Heres my suggestion, cause if you really like the crescent axe use it but have a more viable back up weapon. http://tinyurl.com/cnwqber
edit: also gravelord dance is weak, its pretty much always better to use fire tempest. Being +3 gravelord covenant makes it more powerful and the swords bigger.

I figured the lower the soul weapon the less hard I had to hit? I like all these suggestions. I'll look into and experiment with some of this advice. Thank you!

Re: Good Crescent Axe/sl.60 build?
This is my personal take on a SL60 Crescent Axe build; since you probably don't want a Mask, I excluded it from the get-go. It hits a 53 poise breakpoint, and uses the RoFaP to give you more Health, and Stamina. You'll need both, and considerable practice to use the Crescent Axe effectively. Now, I gave you Wrath of the Gods to give you a more useful offensive miracle compared to Gravelord Greatsword Dance. Look into pivot-cancelling spells, and you'll be getting considerably more out of that single stack. The good thing about practising Pivot-Cancelling is that you don't need an enemy to practice with; you can sit next to a bonfire, and practice to your heart's content. I also gave you Replenishment which will make your Health go a lot further at this lower SL. Other than that, you should be confident at parrying attacks from common weapons that you know are coming: Claymore rolling attack, Washing Pole running attack, and Zweihander two-handed normal attack are all things that you should be able to parry if it's a new player using them. Against more experienced players that'll know you are going to try to parry, and punish the attempt, be confident at both backstabbing the attack, or counter-backstabbing their punish attempt.

So i've got a +5 halberd and long sword. I have the DWGR and Havels ring. i'm decked in elite knight armour. My question now is where should I progress from here? i just killed Moonlight butterfly and became enemies with the forest hunters.

lol Not quite what I was looking for... that's my fault. I meant to imply that I was searching for the best/easiest route via character progression to get to crescent axe/paladin armour? Considering it's towards the end a little.

Re: Good Crescent Axe/sl.60 build?
You wont be able to get the armor or weapon until pretty much the end game. Until then, just focus on your stats. The area below the catacombs is where that stuff is, but you wont be able to get any of it until you ring the two bells of awakening.

Re: Good Crescent Axe/sl.60 build?
So, I took everyone's advice and tried to incorporate it. mainly because I liked all of it. I did a little bit of experimenting in the planner and tweaked a few things. I used the Crown of the Dark Sun, and Stone gauntlets to reach over the 53 poise breakpoint without going into the fatty roll territory. I added a few points into Attunement because as roanispe pointed out Replenishment would actually be useful with my lower hp. I used a reliable secondary weapon just in case I find out how awful Crescent Axe really is. Fruitpunchninja suggested I use a Lightning Longsword. I tried it out and I'm not a huge fan of how "long" I is. keeping with your suggestion though I went the poker route and did a +15 Estoc/sunlight blade. I took stat allocation from Wyrmhero and tweaked it just slightly, and his suggestion of the crown for miracle boost. I stubbornly chose to keep swordsdance as I feel it just compliments the theme and it makes me smile. I will be gravelording with this character too. I expect to get to rank 3 for the bonus of larger swords.
Here it is... I will be testing very shortly as I am in Anor Londo getting the lord vessel right now.

Nice man, looks like a good starting build. Enjoy, just don't let some of the negative aspects of pvp ruin it for you. Also gravelording doesnt always work well, you can sometimes wait a long time for people to invade. You probably know this, but in order to gravelord the boss of the area you are in has to be alive.

I actually watched the instructional video for gravelording shortly after typing this. Tht being said I am going to see if I can have someone trade me the paladin armour.

Re: Good Crescent Axe/sl.60 build?
Is this your first playthrough? You really should just beat the game and then start with the whole online aspect of the game. Or at least open the kiln(the final area).I dont know, i cant tell you how to play the game. If this isnt your first playthrough i assume you have a little bit of experience with pvp, if not then i wouldn't expect to win much until you get a 100hrs or so under your belt. I'm sure some people can pick it up a lot faster, but most players who pvp take it very seriously and have been playing since launch.

Thanks for the heads up! As you might have guessed I casually played DmS, but I have played DkS since launch as well. I am just relatively ignorant unless it crosses what I like to do. Usually dmb fth caster in the forest. i beat the game once tho.

Re: Good Crescent Axe/sl.60 build?
So, an update is in order. Thanks to Reim0027 I have the crescent axe and I've successfully been gravelording however this will take some time to get used to. I've been attacked twice.
Situation 1: The guy shows up, and just raises his shield. As I smack him with my axe I notice the most I ever did to him was 17hp. I switched to my now +10estoc and buffed it with SLB. I started to poke him when phantom two showed up. Dressed in dragon form he 1hko'd me with a bs from a bow. Needless to say I was quite frustrated and hot.
I farmed sif for some hummanity via white sign...
Situation 2: I stood and waited when alas someone came after me. We graciously bow to one another and commence the battle. I parried him once, and he parried me once. unfortunately the lag was so great that neither of us could tell and rolled away instead of following through with the riposte. I did notice however that my regular swings did roughly 130-150 dmg one handed. Then all of a sudden 2 more phantoms show up and ruin the duel. The first phantom backed down and the added two attacked me simultaneously. What irritated me however is that there was a dmb in thorns set trying to bs me the whole time (never did) and a caster volleying SS at me and never let up. At least 7 casts. I lost this instance too unfortunately.
Out of the two I did have fun during situation 2. I'm not sure how accurate my next statement is, but Crescent Axe seems very fun and legit when I am facing up against legit people in my range. What do you guys think of these situations?
