The Community through the Ages

I was going through some old posts in a few Dark Souls threads and I just can't help but laugh at the way the Souls community has grown, both in knowledge and skill.

At launch:
"Hey guys, I'm loving this game! The Drake Sword is sweet! I hope I didn't broke the game, though, because seems to be the best weapon so far. Any idea about how Covenants work? I found a small, crab-like thing in a big swamp, then a completely naked player playing a woman invaded me! Was it one of the developer Phantoms? Where is the Crescent Falchion equivalent? Behind that door in the Asylum?
Also, I took the Pendant. Anyone knows what does it do?

Some months later:
"Welp, there goes Gwyn. Good thing I found about upgrading weapons and armor! Next time, though, I'm going to try and save the wolf! Wait, what does this doll do? How do I make the secret Pygmy Covenant? Ah, it seems the Pyromancy Flame does not scale with Int!
Also, I took the Pendant. Anyone knows what does it do?

Today:
Welp, speedrun clocked three hours. Hey, look at that new shortcut! Man, I wonder how many sorcery damage buffs can I stack if I go with this build. HOLY COW, NEW DLC!

Ahhh, i remember the good old days when everyone thought the drake sword was the best weapon. I remember going through the game thinking i knew what i was doing but actually knowing little about the game.

It is funny to look back on those times and see how everyone struggled to find the best armor and weapons and try to make the best build. Now when i look at it people see many different weapons as the best and people are putting builds out there like crazy.

Hahahahahaha...... What does the pendant do? I still have no idea what that thing does...

And confusions about NPC/Player invaders were the best.

There are still some places where people swear Lautrec invades in the Parish.

The pendant is the ultimate troll from FROM, well played sir.

Looking forward to the dlc and the community not knowing what's going on again.... Also looking for the next great troll from FROM.

I forgot about the npc confusion. I was freaking out when i first saw someone invade. I thought it was part of the game until i figured out it was actually a feature that anybody could use.

Yeah the dlc is going to be interesting, i cant wait to see what question are going to pop up. Hopefully we find some use for items like the pendant.

I actually hope people are so clueless that they start trying to give advice and end up misdirecting others to horrible, horrible deaths.

Anyways, the OP thing of the week has changed a few times. Remember when all ugs were OP? How about that span where the bkga was designed by satan? Its rather funny to remember all of that happening.

Lol.. That would be funny especially if a person knows exactly where to go but tells people the wrong thing anyway. It would be mean but funny.

I remember when every other thread was a troll thread, and the mods threatened to close the forums down if people didn't cut the crap.

Seriously, I had never in my life seen a moderator almost shut down a whole forum because of the community. I was like 0_o and thinking "Every one shut the hell up!"

You missed the part where I posted in every thread, and everything was related to butts.

I don't recall that lol, but that was before this new forum was created, so it was a while ago.

Actually it was with this forum, I wasn't a part of the community until after this forum's creation. I'm a dark souls baby in the grand scheme of things, so I can't the nostalgia these guys are getting from this thread. I missed out.

Oh haha. Well, I just started playing the game last week after about 5 months, and I havn't been on the forums in longer than that. So it makes sense.
