All the hundreds of hours I put into Dark Souls, I always seemed to be making characters with loads of spells, or big melee weapons. Recently started doing a low level run, and found myself having to find new strategies to deal with the restrictions. Backstabs have been a real saving grace so far, especially with the Bandit Knife (now a fire knife). That critical on backstabs has been effective even on big enemies like the serpent men or Blighttown trolls.

    Anyone use it on bosses?

The Stray Demon is deliciously weak to the bleed effect, so you can pretty much ruin him in no time flat with any bleeding weapon, even unupgraded. The Bandit's Knife is a simple solution to that fight that almost any character can use.

All glory to the Bandit's Knife.

Considering I did 75% of my first playthrough with dual bandit's knives, I am very fond of it. I'm actually considering starting a build around it for PVP.

Other than the already mentioned Stray Demon (plus variants), it'll destroy Smough with its bleed, Gwyn with its crit, and the 4 Kings with its speed (and sometimes me with its backstab). Wicked little knife.

Bandit's Knife is superior in most situations, especially the low-level run, where you can make it elemental.

It might be cool to do a dual bandit's knife build, but I imagine it'll get pretty boring to PvP as. Take a swipe at the opponent, roll away, rinse, repeat.

If I really were to make that build I'd mix it up with parries, kicks, and backstabs on people who leave themselves open.

How does it play in PvP? I was thinking of adding it to my favorite build.

If you like critical damage, then it's nice. It's also useful for rushing in for a quick hit, but rapiers can fulfill that role a bit better. I really prefer it for flavor and parries/backstabs, but if you can manage to get a few hits on someone at one time then I'd imagine it to be great along with a buff.

If I'm up against a Rapier I fight for fun (unless they visibly fish), If I'm up against a Bandit's Knife I'll use every dirty trick at my disposal the moment I see it.
