Expert's guide to shortcuts (new video)

Post by vageta31 on Wed Aug 01, 2012 11:49 pm

Hey all, I just put up a new video on youtube that covers all of the best shortcuts in the game. Not the ones the developer intended us to use, but the kind that players have found that allow you to enter areas much earlier than normal or into completely different areas altogether. Some of these are widely known while others may surprise even the veterans.

Blaine, if you're reading this thread be sure to check out a new solution I came up with to getting past the first ghost room in New Londo in record time. A nice speed run booster happy

Haha, not a huge difference, but everything counts! Nice video, will come in handy when trying to explain runs.

And let us know when you finish the sorcerer playthrough! silly

Edit: you could add the shortcut where you skip Ceaseless by flipping through the lava.

Amazing video, it is already in my favorites list. I would have never thought of some of those shortcuts like the one in the forest and dukes. Thanks for all your hard work in finding these shortcuts and i hope you make more vids if you find more shortcuts.

Btw you are amazing at parrying.

I can answer this! big grin

The shield is the target shield, greater frame window for parrying and the sword is Ricards Rapier taken down the lightning path! big grin

Does that Duke's shortcut allow you to continue straight on to the Crystal Cave for the "actual" Seathe boss battle?

    If so: Prostration

    (Either way, still useful)

Yes indeed. I did just that in the final video of my "everything possible.." series.

I thought about the discharge lava run, but it's just not all that elegant to watch happy

Also, ya I know. I need to finish my Sorc run, but I'm dreading fighting Gwyn as I promised I won't parry him. So I have a dagger and spells and I know what a pain it's going to be.

Here's a compromise: parry him, but riposte with a soul arrow instead! I'm pretty sure you'll have enough time to cast instead of riposting.

Damn if I didn't try that shortcut about 10 times last night without getting it to work... Went back to invading after that.

It probably would have been faster to just run through the prison murdering everything. sad

Beautiful, love all the shortcuts, I only knew about the Smo&O stairs, Burg and Dukes, only successfully doing Smo&Os stairs, brilliantly used in PvP to avoid chokepoints or, in many situations assassinating a host while his phantoms rush ahead. ^.^
