Deceived by a summoner.

So I was in Duke's Archives with my summon sign placed near the bonfire like most do, got summoned as usual to a person who did the usual bow and so forth. We headed towards the garden with the crystal golems, the crystal skeley under the library was still there and so were all the golems. Everything seemed normal.

He and I were fighting 2 golems we split between one another when out of no where i get back stabbed by a red dark spirit wearing the ring of fog. I survived the stab and ran around frantically to see if my ally would heal me since i didnt have the moment to do so myself with Heal or humanity. Then i noticed that he was just watching and the spirit wasn't even trying to go after him and when he finally killed me they both walked up to me and bowed like they were friends who plotted this.

So i figured it was a rare case. i put down my sign again, 10 mins later the same guy summoned me this time not even hiding the dark spirit they were both just standing infront and proceeded to attack me before i could black stone away.

Is this a common occurrence? Do people really grief others in such a way? I didn't think it was very easy to invade a friends world so much as to coordinate such things? i guess i might be wrong.

I just found it disheartening that there are people on a game that is very niche with its audience who are only hurting the community and not trying to help it grow by possibly frustrating new comers with things like this. I guess there is always trolls everywhere.

No, not really. Yes, yes they do. He might have been summoned by his friend via RSS.

How did they -BOTH- attack you? The host shouldn't be able to do damage to a white phantom. Or did I read it wrong and he had 2 red phantoms?

It is a little worrying, personally I just keep my black crystal in my hot keys for things such as this. Its not common, I can say that much. But many players are now asking for hand-outs or wanting to do a invader gank rather than jolly co-op. Its not a big issue I don't think, just crystal out and change locations or servers.

This happened to me once, I killed the Invader and then got sent home! :/

Well I was on the balcony right next to the bonfire when i ported in, and when they saw me kneel to black stone out, the dark spirit attacked me interupting my porting out, and then the white spirit stood next to him in the doorway so i was blocked on the balcony and couldnt run.

How do i go about switching servers? or is there anyway to know when you have switched from one server to another?

when i first started playing this troll did almost the same thing to me. he invaded me like 4 times in a row and i had no chance of winning, and he had to be like 30 lvls over me at least. and i didn't even know it was possible.

yes trolls are everywhere whats worse is when it doesn't even tell you they where invading the just show up and kill you

I think if you log out to the start menu and wait about 2-5 minutes it auto switches your sever, I don't know how well it works, but you could also try going into players met on your console and blocking the host/invader that might prevent them from summoning you though I have never tested these methods thoroughly. I seldom have to resort to this sort of action.

Something like this happened to me tonight, I invaded Dark Londo, and there was the host and a red phantom, obviously ganking. I skirmished over to the elevator, roared, hit, roared, hit (in the fall off area right next to the elevator). The host was being a little... weakling and letting his friend do the work. I backstabbed him off the edge (and killed him). The host was well set up, but obviously not a good player. I just smacked him as he fled and healed.

Don't forget, the less likely the victory, the sweeter it is. People enjoy ganking, but in the end, they won't get as much as you will, win or lose.

However, yours is special. I can't really give good advice for that. Really I can't believe people would waste their time with that, don't forget to avoid them. I suppose you could do what I did above, if you are summoned to another world, you establish a connection, which makes it easier to invade. Try to invade his world instead, and focus on the 2v1 instead of the 1v1 impossible win. I suspect they would just quit though, some people man, some people.

Cheers mate, I didn't even get a chance to finish my red off. I got BC'd out by the host before landing the killing blow.

Server is the wrong word as there are no servers in DkS. The game connects you to people based on certain criteria, location, SL and covenent are the primary three. Quitting to the main menu and reloading your character starts the process over and can connect you to different players, but its not a 100% sure thing.

People do all kinds of weird **** in this game. That's what makes it so great. This kind of thing is fairly uncommon--this particular situation anyway--but at least it was a 1v1.

one time i was cooping in anor londo, i was just summoned by the bonfire and when i bowed the vase behind me turned into a red phanton and 1hko BS me...

Ouch. That's why I like how it was in Demon Souls better; you GOT A NOTICE when summoned there was an invader present. Not so in Dark Souls. Guess they rushed or forgot that part.

This has happened to me too at the parish. Host with a complete Troll set DW. After being summoned the second time I just stood still and died from one of the DW farts.
I tell you what does work... After that I just blocked the summoner and the DW psn's.
No need to send any hate mail, just blocking and problem solved. Didn't get summoned or invaded bt those guys anymore.

This happens to me at the Burg (level 10) semi frequently. Some twinker with his red (or sometimes blue) buddy summoning what he thinks is a new player for a gank. Terrible

I like to invade in the burg, But sometimes I get the dragonhead Glitch from spawn gankers and they blow me into the little bridge and their buddys hold shields and block me from moving. Then I just have to die. Sometimes I am able to jump off to my death so they don't get my humanity. Gankers everywhere! But I do find some good duals there too.

This has never happened to me and I get summoned a lot for coop. It's very disheartening to hear though...

Is not really common but it does happen and yes, it's really annoying. They think is fun to do that, but it is kind of silly though to farm phantoms at such a low level.
They get more souls from killing the mob and they don't get humanity from you when they kill you, so obviously they are only doing that just to troll players.
I wonder about the mental age this "players" are.
On higher levels, well is harder to get summoned, so mostly is your frie d the one that will be summoning you rather than a random player. I mean high lvl above 150 or 200
