It can be great. That AR is through the roof!
But I'd urge caution, it's an advanced weapon for sure. If you take one on without knowing how to use it the results can be fatal. But in the hands of someone who understands the weapon, it is downright devastating.

The best Demon weapon for STR is the Demon Greataxe. It has an S scaling at higher levels (I think around +14) and does the most damage for any Backstab/Riposte, when it comes to pure STR). For DEX - the best will be the Rapier. Note that the Demon Greataxe is extremely slow, so it's best for this weapon to be used mostly for BS/Ripostes

So it say on the mugeunmonkey site the AR with my stats are 600ish. And it really it 300 so should I upgrade it?

It's telling you its AR is 636 but you're only getting 300 out of it?
You have to be aware of a few things, enemy defenses, the level of your machete (is it at +15?), type of attack you use, etc... All these things can, and will, alter the amount of damage that you do.
So always keep that in mind.

It's decent but in pvp I caution you because it has a very slow swing and if you get that timing wrong you could be in a lot of trouble. It's range isn't what you think it would be either and people love parrying it. I have it at +14 and I use it every now and then but I prefer my Man-serpent Greatsword +15.
