I was sitting here watching ENB's lore series on youtube and he was talking about the sun's first born and whatnot and I had an idea...what if, when in Anor Londo, you summoned Solaire, then led him to the Darkmoon Tomb where the body is with the Ring of the Sun's First Born...and say used the pendant or what not? I'd do this myself but I've done cleared AL and all my other characters are nowhere close to there yet. When they do get there I'll try, but I figured I'd pose this in case one of you are there and might think to give it a go.

Lol, I doubt it, but it just struck me as interesting as the corpse is RIGHT THERE and Solaire being so close to it, you would think that if Solaire IS the first born, and the body is ALSO the first born....ya know? lol.

Problem with this theory is the fact that you meet solaire in body form... It's either the corpse isn't the firstborn, or solaire isn't the firstborn.

It's impossible for the corpse to be solaire's corpse, as when you kill him in your world, you can no longer summon him, yet even though that is his supposed corpse and he should be dead.. you still see him and can summon him.

Then I pose this...Time in Lordran is twisted and flows differently. Is it not at least worth a try?

Solaire is supposed to be an undead cast-away like you. So maybe it is his spirit or undead form that helps you.

Perhaps, though would it be conceivable that a god was branded with the darksign? It seems in most lore only humanity can be branded to become undead.

However, the time distortion patch could work (it's becoming more and more like the force each day). After all, you can summon beatrice for butterfly and for 4 kings when you can drain water and find her body..

If he was stripped of his God-hood, then would he not be simply human? That would make him quite eligible for the Dark Sign. And having lost the annals of his past he would not know who he was, perhaps making it to his father's tomb in one timeline only to be killed by his brother (since I take it that whatever he done to be stripped of godhood would make the others still a bit miffed at him), and then what we experience is his alternate timeline bleed-throughs.

Cool theory... except that he won't go outside the chapel, that little area to be exact. I've tried it.

I'd hope since I could never get him to be useful during any other fight, he always just lays down and dies for me and I end up doing all the work lol

He's a meatshield pretty much but in the final fight he does good work since gwyn is easy as hell to begin with.

Well, I'd thought that too from watching the plethora of videos depicting people roflstomping him with no problem whatsoever, so with much gusto I make my way in through the fog gate for the first time, and then mistakenly decided to take in the environment allowing him to ninja jump onto my face. lol. And then I spent the following 12+ hours trying EVERY method I had available to beat him...which means you should read that as I stayed in one spot and tried every method to not achieve victory lol, I stood there and tried to parry, tried to iron flesh, tried to roll from one side to the other, never leaving the vicinity of the fog gate. All the time spent the lowest his health dropped was to probably the 45% mark.

Then I had an idea...what if...no, surely not...what if I...moved? OMG, lmfao, once I started making my way around the room I started making progress...Parry, get hit, use the rock to stop him so i could heal, room to dodge the grab, parry, parry, parry, roll...I look down at his health...he's at roughly 15%...I start to sweat, I know I'm going to freak and lose composure, he ninja jumps, I roll, he snatches me up in the grab I mistakenly rolled into...what do I do? Do I try to put the rock between us to get a heal off? No time, I'm up, he swings, and somehow, some deity above or below managed to guide my finger to the Left Trigger at just the right moment...PARRY....OMG I GOT THE PARRY....here it comes...RIPOSTE!...and just like that, 12+ hours of pure ignorance culminating into one of THE GREATEST moments I have EVER felt in a game.

    ....I <3 this game, I truly do.

^+1 for experiencing the Gwyn fight the way it was meant to be!

The first time I beat him was before it was a commonly known fact that you can easily parry him to death, so it was quite a fight for me too. But since then, I've just parried him to death, and it's been pathetically easy. Thanks for sharing your story!

You can't take Solaire outside the great hall at all. He stats there and the boss fog of the golden knight and executioner. I tried to travel with him, in both Anor Londo and at one time even Dark Anor Londo. Nope. Does not travel past that.
