2nd hand riposte/BS weapon?

Hello, I wonder if its a good idea to have a dagger in my 2nd slot mainly for ripostes. I'm using a lightning zweihander +5 right now. Can you tell me a waepon that is good for riposting damage? Like lightning bandits or maybe dagger or mail breaker? does anyone know if they do more damage than my zwei, and which one does most? Maybe test in pve if you happen to have these weapons. Any weapon with a better scaling will do more damage than an elemental at higher levels, but depends on build. If you are planning a STR build, I would recomend bigger weapons like Demon's Axe or Machete. IF a DEX build, the Bandits Knife or other smaller weapon will be better

Actually, its a high vit build with min. stats for my zwei. even with 50 str. it does less damage than with lightning. So I will only be using elemental weapons.

you picked a weapon with **** scaling, if youre gonna use a lightning zeiw in sl 120 youre not gonna do a lot of damage, theres a lot better weapons out there, you should try them before going with lightning.

I know, the scaling sucks thats why i use lightning. it does about 700. i'm not at 120 and the kiln yet. i'm about 80 and pvp in the forest and dark anor londo, it works quite well.
I just love the zwei and its moveset, its my fav. weapon, but hearing it sucks at 120 pvp make me kinda sad.

Better to have the hornet's ring than use a dagger in your second slot. If your primary goal is to go for the ripostes, I would use an Estoc or Ricard's Rapier as your primary. Biggest thing in PVP is knowing what the other guy is going to do, and if I see a guy with a dagger in their hand, I know they are going for the riposte. If you have an Estoc or Rapier, most will think you are a turtler and be shockingly surprised.

it doesnt suck, its just not that good, i agree with you on the set of moves that it has. you should try the machete, msgs, large and great club. see what you like, anything that has an A or B in str and pick one, itll be more fun dude.

My intention is to switch weapon after the parry, to riposte. Other than that, i'll fight with my main weapon. I just want to know, if i can do more riposte damage with a lightning dagger than with my zwei.

I'd like to see if this works, but I would do a +15 Bandit Knife, not a dagger. I would throw on a resin or enchant it.

I found the moveset of the machete quite pleasing (almost same as zwei but R2 sucks).
so its still not to late to switch to a str. build. How much str. should i raise? 40? 50?
how much dmg will the machete do then? and should i go for 15 int GMW too?

Although daggers/rapiers have a high citical bonus, large weapons often do much more damage due to its high normal damage. I once one-shot a farming host with a murakumo +14 and hornet ring with 40dex.
