I heard somewhere that the BEO has no lower SL limit on invasions, but when I checked the wiki, it said that was wrong. I have a high SL build who is currently a FH, but if I could make him a viable DM that would be much more fun. Does anyone know?

Darkmoons CAN invade lower lvl players, are you sure the wiki said thats false? I am pretty much only invaded by sl200+ darkmoons, im sl100-120. I really dont see darkmoons that often, they always invade the kiln and anor londo it seems.

That orb is so crazy. You get fails even if there are sinners around. From my experience as a dedicated darkmoon the orb invades any SL lower than yours, even SL 1. The other range is 10% your SL + 10.

Just understand, you can be connected with hosts who are not sinners, and hollow sinners. Meaning if you are getting no invasions you need to quit and reload to connect to a different group of people.

I theorized once that each point of sin permits you to invade 1 level lower then normal. For example, I amounted 20 sin prior to being invaded by a level 50 darkmoon on my level 20 character.

I've been invaded at level 3 with one sin by level 100 DM's before.

I'm pretty sure that's accurate.

From my limited experiance with it it will invade down, but it is dependant on the amount of sin the lower level has.
The time i remember the most was a couple of months ago. I was a level 120 in the burg and I invaded a newb in starter gear, just before he got to the bonfire. I BCed out, as I am not a douche unlike alot of the other invaders there, and he messaged me saying thanks. I asked him what level he was and he told me he was a level one pyro but that he BBed to make a new PVP build, go figure. I asked him how much sin he had on the charater he BBed and he said it listed him as 25 in the book of the guilty.
So based on the math I would guess that it enables you to invade down by about 5 levels for every point of sin that a host has. But honestly that is just speculation and would have to be tested to be definate.
But short answer is that yes you can invade down, and you will invade anyone close to your level as well, not just sinners. But if you get a sinner they can be of a substantially lower level than yourself.

I didn't knew that, thats why it fails so much unlike the red orb!

The red orb does have the same problem, you can be connected to hollow players, but since you can be connected to every human that has the boss alive the blue orb is prone to failing more.

If you don't like waiting around, red eye it. I didn't like my experiences as a darkmoon all that much.

I know on the wiki it said something about sin lowering the sl of players you could invade, but I wasn't sure by how much. I'll definitely join the darkmoons instead of going for another stack of sunlight blade. Thanks!

By the way, if you might ask "Why are we connected to hollow hosts?"
It's simple, gravelords effect hollows, as a DM you can invade hollow, as a FH you can invade hollow, there are the messages left by other player, resonances, and the phantoms you see playing and at bonfire. Bloodstains too. So there are a lot of points where you are connected to other players without PvP even in consideration, it's a bit of an interesting system really.

Try to stick to a sl appropriate area. Invading more than 20% or so down isn't common (in my experience) unless its the same guy repeatedly, but invading in sens at sl 80 is going to get you more uneven fights with sl 40s and thats not cool.

I feel like Oswald promotes griefing, I mean think about it. It forces more people to absolve at him, conspiracy!

Actually the sin you get from being indicted can't be absolved.Tolvo wrote:I feel like Oswald promotes griefing, I mean think about it. It forces more people to absolve at him, conspiracy!

Only the Sin carried over from BB'ing isn't absolved to my knowledge, otherwise I've always been able to absolve sin away.

Indiction sin can't be absolved. I tried the 1 time I was indicted. Had to remake the character.

From what people have found in the files, there was supposed to be a covenant I think based off sin with Velka, through Oswald. But with how similar it was to the DM, it seems they just carried parts over to the DM combining both into one Cov.

http://darksoulswiki.wikispaces.com/Blade+of+the+Dark+Moon Towards the bottom of the page it says "Sin that results from being indicted is NOT removed by Requesting Absolution from Oswald".
