Did I just fight a hacker?

Post by gateslol7 on Mon Jul 09, 2012 6:10 am

I was doing 2h halberd attacks on this guy who invaded me in tomb of giants and he never got staggered, blocked forever with a medium shield, I landed tons of hits on him and most of them just plain did 0 damage like he wasn't there but the ones I did land, 2handed 38 str 18 dex +5 black knight halberd R1s, only did 51 damage each? These do anywhere from 350-480 in PvE...

I'm SL69 so how is someone my level or under able to just plain mitigate so much damage? He wasn't in havel or stone armor or anything either he was in a mask and what looked like a dress/robe type of armor.

Was this on XBL or PS3?

I ask as the xbox seems to have a bigger modding ratio on xbox then PS3,So it well might have been a modder.

It was on PS3. This guy basically just stood there, minimal movement, and spammed parry. He finally got one after 30 attempts, by which point I had landed easily 20 blows or more on him, but the riposte killed me in one shot.

It is possible he was getting partial parries.
Was he using the Mask of the Chidl and Grass Crest Shield? He could easily have gotten enough stamina to partial parry a ton of times.

I know not all the health bar shows on the player.although this does sound a bit suspicious.

Probably as Rynn mentioned, partial parries. Since your riposte managed to kill him. It sounds like he was a poise parry spammer, next time someone does that just strafe around and BS them. Because they'll usually just stand still spamming parry.

And if HP is above 2000 the bar itself won't actually be shown going down until it gets below 20000.

Invaded 3 different modders yesterday , it was a sad day but I managed to kill one of them who had 5000 hitpoints. The others didn't take no damage but I had fun messing with them because they were inexperienced silly

I was summoned into a world were the summoner was being invaded.
I stood there and watched as I believe it unfair of me to start and fight.
Anyhow the invader had his health bar almost drained,he could not have been more then 50hp.
He was wearing the Red tearstone ring as I could see the reddish glow.
I was still a bystander until the invader came towards me and tried to attack me.
I gave him a WoG,nothing. No knock back or health loss. Also he did not roll the blast.
I gave him the rest of my two WoG to again nothing.
While I was doing this my summoner was throwing chaos at him.
Needless to say he got a Bs in opn me and that was my fight over.
I wrote him a message saying he was a cheat and I was glad it was not me he cheated.
I got the reply back saying he rolled my WoG.I also asked him why his health never moved from showing about 50hp left.
His answer was he drained it to wear the ring of tearstone so he could get the 50%boost damage.
(So people now are making themselves on the near verge of dieing, putting on the tearstone ring and then invading?) Please.
I blocked reported and did not reply.
Just shows you these cowards will not even admit it when we catch them cheating. They even have the nerve to try and act like you are an idiot by messaging a load of bull sh1t to you.
If you are going to cheat at least have some balls and put your hands up when you are caught.
Honest I find these people a waste of time and if I get invaded by them I do and will dashboard.
    Then report and block him.
This was after I received a second message that was very racist and abusive,so I must have hit a nerve.
    Truth hurts.

I have never heard of hackers on ps3 like the ones that are on 360. Ive played this game online for over a thousand hrs and never ran into one. He was most likely getting partial parrys and dodging. It can seem like you hit them while they are rolling, but it does no dmg during certain frames of the roll.

I do this all the time with my glass cannon, however unless he was trying to OHKO you then it's very likely he was modding.

People invade with low health and the red tear stone ring all the time. The only thing that seems out of place is you didn't see him roll your wrath.

If he really had high modded health then his health bar would have been displayed as full.

Not trying to be mean, but it sounds like it was a legit kill. I can completely understand getting mad while playing this game, i often cant help but get pissed off sometimes. You will find out that some players are really good at dodging using rolls, like i said it can seem like you hit them but they are invincible during certain frames of a roll. My main question is, did he stagger when you hit him with the wrath? Like did it knock him back? If not then he almost certainly rolled through your cast of wrath. Also like everyone is saying players will poison themselves and drain their health down to the exact amount it takes to trigger the red tear stone ring. Those players are often built to 1shot other players, and they can be 1shot themselves.

I think I know what happened. Was he standing perfectly still when you hit him? If so, that means there was some lag, so one his screen he was rolling but to you he was sort of frozen. That's why he wouldn't stagger or take damage, I assume he appeared behind you afterwards killing you, a lag BS? It sounds more just like a connection issue.

I fought a guy once in New Londo, I invaded him as a DM. He was wearing some hollow warrior armor and I think a MoM. Yeah it was a MoM, I remember it now. Anyway, I was testing out my BSS Lightning +5 to see how much damage it did. And I had previously fought a guy wearing Elite Knight armor. He took pretty typical damage 200-400 somewhere around there depending on whether I 1h or 2h the blade. Well this guy, even in this terrible armor was apparently a beast.

I slammed about 3 Great Soul Arrows into him. And I was using the Tin Crystallization Catalyst, and that Dragoncrest Ring for boosting Sorcery damage. That atop having 50 Intelligence, I should have done some damage. But they slammed directly into him and he took no damage at all. He did roll on the last one, but he rolled into a pillar and didn't go anywhere so I figured it would hit him. (I've taken damage during rolls like that, so I don't see why other people wouldn't. Although I guess it depends on what time in the roll you are hit.)

Well, at that point I figured that this was not going to work on him. (By the way he was not flipping, just fast rolling.) So I swapped to my L+5 BSS and took the fight to him. I kicked him and staggered him, and then I 2h my BSS and went to town. I hit him like twice, heard the lightning crackle and didn't see him move or do any parry animation. He just got out of the stagger and finally moved back some. But he only took 15 damage out of that whole ordeal.

Needless to say it was the only damage he ever took. As after that point he pulled out a Shotel that I think was fire elemental. And he just ran in wildly swinging at me. At this point I figured pacing myself would help, so I just walked back waiting to see if he would run out of stamina. Well, he did not. He must have swung his blade like fifty times before he finally gave up and swapped weapons to something else. I forgot what it was, but at that point I messed up and rolled to the left to dodge and got stuck. Then, without even turning to attack me his attacks just all of a sudden started connecting. He did tons of damage really fast and I died almost immediately.

It could have just been awful lag, but there were too many times that he was just too wide open. Even were it lag, it shouldn't have shielded him like that. There is some weird crap that happens in this game though.

Lag could actually explain that entire ordeal, except his weapon swings. That sounds more like an stamina modder, are you sure he really did swing that many times?

Post by About8547Souls on Tue Jul 10, 2012 8:04 pm

To put how much he swung his sword at me in perspective, I'll tell you the exact path the entire fight took.

As a DM in Anor Londo I spawned at the top of the stairs where the two Giants are. I walked forward some and he was standing at the bottom of the stairs just coming off of the giant tower that rotates up and down. He saw me, and he backed up to the other side of that little bridge that extends off of said tower and he started firing poison arrows at me.

I walked forward and simply sidestepped them all except one, which he hit me with because he swapped weapons for a second. Then he swapped back out and shot me when I was bowing. So I descended down the stairs and walked towards him as he put up his little Grass Crest Shield. He backed up some to my right, and I took my place in front of him almost directly in front of that little bridge. We were now both on that tower, and we were still both directly lined up with the stairs that lead up to the Giants.

I fired off my GSA 3 times, and he rolled to my left some, and almost fell into the center of the tower; but he was saved by a pillar. Then I walked forward and kicked him, during which time I 2h my BSS and hit him twice. He backed up a little and we kind of squared off like that for about 10-15 seconds.

That was when he swapped to his Shotel and came forward. If you were looking directly at the stairs I talked about earlier, we were probably to the left of them a little. I started backing up, and he literally lead me in about a 93 percent full circle around that area, swinging the entire time. I suppose I could have just run, but turning my back to him would have been foolish. So I backed up and stayed locked on him, I was keeping away and actually losing him little by little.

Once we were almost fully back around that area, he swapped weapons and charged me. That was when I rolled and got caught on a pillar and he slaughtered me.

Glass Cannons are actually very successful, since they can come out and one shot with a backstab, or land a CSS out of nowhere and land a one-shot. Usually they are surprise killers.

I would like to think I am open minded, and I do believe lag was a issue although I think the lag just cloaked something else also.
I am not a bitter man when I lose,if I lose then I did something wrong or stupid and just lost to a better player.
Although this duel just had something about it that made me think he was modding?.
Anyhow like I said it was not my world he invaded so I am not going to keep bitter about it.

If he was rolling in place with a DWGR it doesn't matter what hits, you basically have infinite invincibility frames as long as you spam roll.

    Hey guys, TC here.

Just to clarify, the dude I fought did not dodge/roll or block or even move. He stood still and spammed parry while I dumped on him with 2handed R2 attacks. He straight up took like 20-30 attacks until he finally landed a parry, killing me in one riposte. (I was the one who died)

During those 20-30 attacks most of them did not even display a damage number. The ones that did, only did 51 damage, and I had 40 str, 20 dex, with a black knight halberd +5. PLUS this guy was wearing one of the flimsy cloth armors.
