Back stabs are usually a better solution when others are running away... Has a better way of having a form of monster killer quality

The hornet ring would be changed to a 25% increase of counter damage, where the leo ring still has 50%. The two would not stack. Upon parrying a target, you could still hit R1, and take the new opening you've just created.
Turtling would likely be rebalanced by having shields loose far more stamina per block.
Yeah, just to be clear, on the Anor Londo rotating stairs you can parry people, you just can't get a riposte. So it's basically a no BS, parry but no riposte zone. Parries still have obvious benefits, since you get to exploit their stun by hitting them with a free slower R2 attack or spell or whatever, but it's less likely to be a OHKO since you can't just riposte or BS them. The result is that people will still go for parries from time to time as warranted, but rarely just roll around spamming for them. Not gonna lie, between that and no lagstabs I think it's much improved over regular PvP. But I encourage folks to check it out and see what they think.

Re: What If Nobody Could
How 'bout this?
Backstab windows are made much smaller, only allowing you to backstab when actually right behind your opponent.
Backstabs (And riposte's) only do the damage of a regular attack, hence making them effective only for chasing runners and popping turtles.
After a backstab you get several seconds worth of invincibility frames so that chain-backstabs become impossible.
Daggers, rapiers, and spears get a small damage increase on a backstab or riposte. Curved swords and katana's get a similar damage increase on a riposte.
2H ripostes offer no extra damage vs. a 1H one. Backstabs will not activate if you are 2H'ing your weapon. As well, the animation for a backstab get's changed so that your characters left hand is holding onto the shoulder of the enemy you're backstabbing (It makes no sense to just stand still as a blade is shoved in you're back). Greataxes and Ultra Greatswords cannot backstab at all because of this.
Hornet ring increases damage for both, but only by something like 20% or 25%.
So yeah, how's all that sound? Not actually removing them, since they do have legitimate uses, just making them more situational and balanced in my opinion.
And for a person who backstab fishes all the time to keep using the same strategy they'd have to specifically make their build toward it. Equipping a dagger or similar weapon and the hornet ring. Ya know, kinda like how the rest of us all have to make a build that matches our play style?

There would be a lot more dead-angling Zwei users.....
.....and I would be pretty close to undefeated in PvP.
