Its only 4 volumes, its crude humor mixed with slice of life. The main character is my avatar 8)

Its kind of a slice of life parody in a way.
I was new to anime when I first found out about Lucky Star. So I had to watch the next episode, and POOF! I was into it!
And yeah. you have to be into Slice of Life to be able to get into it. But even then you can still learn to like it.
Spoiler Alert! --- I cried when I saw the episode with the ghost of Konata's mom.

I have to say anime happened to me like that as well at first it started with inuyasha late at night when I was like 15 then I started branching out eventually I decided I hated dubbed episodes and it’s been all downhill from there and there isn’t a single genre that I haven’t found something I like at least.

WAIT !!! I take that back there is one thing I don’t like and that is when they make male characters to feminine.

Yea, I thought the tension between light and L was what made the show so interesting. I agree that once L died the show took a big hit.
Also, I didn't like how they made Light look like a little bit&^ at the end. The whole show he's this calm, collected BA, and then he gets caught and he cries like a little boy.

Well since there's absolutely no mystery as to what the ending is, sorry people who had not seen it, i will say that i actually liked it. I liked that L was killed off, cause it was very unexpected(once again sorry people who haven't seen it) and it was the point where Light really became the bad guy. Also it showed the difference between L and light, L took his death like a man while light dealt with it like a wuss. I think most people just didn't like it because L was their favorite character. It's been a while since ive seen the anime, so im impressions are a bit hazy.

If you guys like death note you might like Kaiji, although theres no supernatural elements. Its also a Madhouse anime, and has lots of intellectual competition between the main and other characters. It has that similar aspect of the main coming up with crazy plans to get through difficult situations. Honestly i might say i prefer kaiji. They are very different though, but if you like one you might like the other.

It seemed relevant to the death note discussion. On that note, I really dislike how I can't go through ffn without finding most of the pages poorly written yaoi.

You dont have to be super into anime, lots of people have seen shows like DBZ,Pokemon,Afro Samurai,Sailor Moon(me?no never, i swear 8) )

I grew up with Dragonball, Z and even GT, loved them ALL as a kid, even GT, yes now I see its flaws and that it really isn't that good (WAY too many plotholes), but even so I don't think it's ALL terrible.

Z was my favorite either way, on top of that, I grew up with the Beyblade series and loved that as well, I love Pokemon of course, Death Note, High school of the Dead...

I'm still getting into some more at the moment, like Lucky Star, I do love anime, I have more shows that I need to check out.

I'm not really an anime kinda guy. I used to be when me and my ex were still together, but not anymore. We usually watch anime over the internet together every once in a while though.

On topic, i'd have to say Death Note. The anime was one of the first few i see, and the one with the least Fan Service out of all i've seen(i find that FS ruins animes far too often). I enjoyed everything about the story, and the fact that it was more serious than most animes i've seen. Also, the soundtrack is amazing. Best music out there for studying:

Well....Counting JUST anime and not manga, I could rattle off a few favorites.

I like school rumble a lot. Just because it's a slice of life without any real plot and mostly just a comedy, I can enjoy it a lot easier than most things. It's a 'watch whenever' kind of anime to me 'cause you can jump in at any point and still be good, and I like that. Kind of like...Gintama? I don't watch it but my friend talks about it a lot and it seems the same way. I really need to get to it.

Other than that, I grew up on Yu Yu Hakusho. Absolutely loved it. I watched all the animes on Toonami but Yu Yu Hakusho was the one I just had to see the new episode for. Though Outlaw Star was amazing, too. Also, Hellsing Ultimate. Has some of the most beautiful visuals I've ever seen. That episode where he releases all restrictions in London? Oh man...

[But including manga, Fist of the North Star, Berserk and Beelzebub. Also R+V because I'm a nerd. silly ]

Favorite anime is Death Note. Only anime that got me wanting to see more all the way to the end. I would put Naruto next, but I stopped watching it and can't give it the "favorite tag" because it just keeps up with the fillers and doesn't FINISH THE STORY. There is such a thing as overextending!

Following the list is Lucky Star and Dragonball Z. There are 2 others that I am watching for the......"story".

But favorites are Death Note and Dragonball Z.

While we are on this topic, I just came back from watching Mahou Shoujo Madoka★Magica Movie 1: Hajimari no Monogatari in a theatre quite close to me. Only 5 theatres in the whole city were showing it. big grin I got my tickets for both part 1 and part 2 early, the tickets for the first one were sold out about 2 days ago and I'm sure part 2 will be sold out soon too.

Also, they were even giving out posters.

    And guess what?

I didn't get one lol. :mask-averice: (I didn't buy my tickets online nor was I the person right next to me with a certain sticker under their left cupholder. I wasn't one of the first four people in line either.)
