I've worked out that this is people using instant messaging. Has anyone else noticed this? Is there a way to get rid of it because it seriously affects my concentration.

I feel the same way. I hate it with a passion. I usually just mute the machine, as it keeps resetting every time i go to a new page.

Hi all 
, if you look at the bottom left corner of the chatango box (left of the 'x' people here caption) you will see a little speaker icon. If you click on that, it will mute the chatango box. Once done, a caption should come up over the chatango box asking if you would like that option (muting it) to be saved. Should solve the issue .
