    Yeah, I understand. Like I said above I didn't start using it till ++++, so you'll be fine. You obviously have them down if you're getting to the 3rd and 4th Kings at SL1 in NG+, it's just a matter of time now....

    I'm also wondering if it's better to one-hand when I get to the battle axe part. It was done in vegeta's sorcerer videos, I think the reasoning is that it you can get off two hits that way and still have the stamina to roll, whereas you can only get off one hit two-handed to leave enough stamina. And the damage from the first is greater than the second of course.

    Vageta's was an NG challenge, which is light years from what you're doing. No harm in trying that one-hand, two-shot method. Let us know how it goes.

    What do you mean by when you get to the battle axe part?

    Oh, I mean when I run out of pyro and switch to my lightning battle axe +15.

    I think his reasons for doing it should be similar to mine - vulnerability to getting one-shot.

    So you're spending all your pyro early, huh? I guess my long-winded post was kind of a waste. I'm sure you'll get them eventually though.

    I think I'm up to about 12 hours now, to no avail. Is there a point where I can say "*** it, I give up" and just use the kiln skip without feeling bad?

    I did get within a few hits tonight, but only once. Of course it used it's explosion attack, meaning I have to back up, meaning the other king floating around can freely stab me to death and there's nothing I can do about it. I hate fights that involve that much luck, because it was all but over if they do anything else (since I can stay close otherwise).

    Oh, one of the DW's fell into the Abyss with me. That was bizarre. It just sort of floated there and then disappeared. I didn't get credit for a kill.

    That's bizarre.

    Before glitching I'd try summoning a phantom. The Kings are tougher in co-op so it might not work, but glitching would kind of ruin your awesome run.

    Question about hyper mode - in a SL1 NG+ vid on youtube, the guy healed when the homing attack started and then blocked with solaire's shield (30% magic reduction). Why did this put him back in hyper mode? I'm just trying to understand the math. Also if I use another shield with the same reduction (like spider shield) should that have the exact same effect? Their stabilities are pretty similar (60 vs. 56).

    Regarding your shield/Red Tearstone question. As I said in an earlier post my sl6 guy has the same HP as your sl 1, and the Grasscrest shield works for me. Go into hyper mode in case the first king doesn't fire off magic. If he does flask and block and you're right back in hyper.

    Repeat every time a king fires off magic. If the Grasscrest doesn't work for you (it may not since my guy is a few +'s further) try a different shield.

    I FINALLY DID IT!!!!

    I think my total time on this boss was 14-15 hours. I switched off between pyro for king 1/3 and axe for 2/4. I got lucky in that the last king never did his magic attack, so I could stay close. When he was down to a few hits, I landed the first and went in for the finisher. I missed, and not only that but he was charging up his explosion. I ran in and gave one more swing and finished him off right before it detonated.

    This is even more exhilarating then beating Maneater in NG+ (and that was definitely not SL1). Thanks for all the help guys.

    Congratulations! Using the pyro on 1 and 3 was a good move. Way to stick with it.

    Thanks. Finished off Gwyn tonight as well. Took me about 54 hours for the first two runs. I'd love to do NG++ but I really don't want to that 4 Kings fight ever again.

    This is definitely a feeling of accomplishment that I've never gotten with any other game.
