Hacker to the extreme or simply a glitch?

Post by Malacath on Fri Jul 06, 2012 5:33 pm

So today I invaded some guy at the kiln. I bow, he bows, I munch blossoms, all's fine. (XBL)

This guy was using a Gravelord Greatsword in his right hand and a Flame in his left hand. As he used the flame it flashed in light blue and I thought it would be Iron Flesh
    BUT NO
As soon as his hand slapped on his chest his Gravelord Greatsword was enchanted with Darkmoon Blade, fully glowing in light blue.

I took the challange and charged him, he intoxicates me with one swing and as I back up to munch some moss he uses the "Point Forward" gesture AND SHOTS A FRICKEN SUNLIGHT BLADE FROM HIS FINGERTIPS  :!: Well, I lost that fight XD

I wrote him "Thumbs up for being the first creative hacker.", he replied "its a glitch im no hacker&crap i would tell you but you need a mic" (the mic part cause I didn't want to chat with him)

I invaded him two more times and he showed me he could literlly enchant every weapon and when we fought I won those two fights, he even had rather low HP.

He insisted it was a glitch, but wouldn't tell me cause it takes ages to type on XBox and even asked me for my FB-Account XD

So what's the deal? Is he an uber-hacker or is this even a well known glitch I just don't know?

If it is a glitch, it sounds rather game breaking, possibly even more so then actual hacking.

Never encoutered a guy shooting lightning from fingertips big grin but there are similar glitchers I've encountered (fast casting of tempest without cast time and with different animation etc.)

Think its the spellswap glitch, and he probly used the Undead Rapport pyro spell, not the actual point gesture.

People use it in even worse ways, and yes its awful. I've encountered it a few times myself.

Its a glitch, it allows you to enchant un enchantable weapons. It also allows you to buff the stone GS making its twop attack cause dmg. You can use spells you dont have the stats to use ext.

Honestly I have never seen anyone hack while I was with them or invading them. Weird!?! And how does anyone find these glitches? my game never glitches except a little lag in blighttown.

    He was spell swapping.

This was mostly done away with before, but it allowed you to do stuff like this.

Sounds like he found a way to swap the pyroglove and it's spell while swapping a talisman and its miracle allowing you to get the effects of DM blade from iron flesh, or shoot lightning with undead rapport.

    Gonna go confirm this.

this glitch is bad, but not that bad. If you see someone with a pyroglove turn their back to you, rush in and backstab.

What fruit said. It requires a back to you. Lucky he didn't use a couple worse tricks you can do with it.

Also, if he started it with a pyro glove he should have used CMW. You're lucky too that he's bad at math

Perhaps it only works talisman to pyro-glove.

The real danger would be a buffed chaos blade.

You actually don't need to switch your weapon slot, just the spell. And a chaos blade would be crazy. I know a couple more work that are potentially worse though. I'm not gonna proliferate bad ideas but my advice is to punish anyone who deliberately turns their back.

Well actually the Chaos blade only does about 50 more AR than a well balanced Iato. Sad I know. So that means a DM blade Iato is far superior to anyone who would want to DM blade a katana. And the Uchi probably does even closer damage to the chaos blade.

    Whatever.

And this glitch would be pretty cool if it wasn't for buffing boss weapons.

Yeah, it's actually just an interesting glitch except for buffing certain weapons. There's a reason some aren't supposed to be amped up.

Curses, a glitch that actually seems like fun to troll with! Damn, firing lightning from my fingertips would be so fun to mess with people...

The undead rapport spell takes so long to cast, it seems like you wouldn't really be able to use it very well..

Well, unless your opponent is too startled/far away to react to your actions. If it were a gesture on the other hand, most people would hesitate to attack while in gesture. Imaging shooting a bolt while bowing or doing the egg head attack. you would confuse so many people.

Even if it wasn't effective, it would get some attention. Combine it with a Hidden Weapon'd Whip for the unique particle effect and you could be a complete enigma.

emit force plus great combustion was used on my dad the other day, the force ball cast instantly like gc would have, cast times seem to be that of the spell whose firing mechanism your mimicing not the spell you actually fire off. ohh... white dragon breath with gc style cast, it'd look like soul rayt from demons...

Man, I could have so much fun with that. Imagine baiting them in with a heal animation, only for it to release a WoG right in their face...
