Anyone else notice it's a broken Ornstein Statue?

Re: The Sunlight Shrine
Its not Ornstein, nor is it his weapon. The blade and holder for the blade are different thus it is not a DSS.

Re: The Sunlight Shrine
We had a MASSIVE debate over thisin the archives ages ago. The conclusion was it was close bu there were differences that meant they couldnt be the same.

Re: The Sunlight Shrine
I did and also had the last post on it I believe. I could name the most vehement poster too but I won't.
Both are winged spears. Ornstein's uses a more circular shaft for the blade indicating it was for piercing almost exclusively. The statue has a broader blade indicating slashing was possible. However, the big kicker is that the DSS more circular blade would be stronger for stabbing attacks i.e. made for dragons. The Statue's broader blade (more like a sword) would be less strong but do considerably worse injuries to "softer" opponents. Surmising the statue is the God of War, the spear for leaders would be the first wave weapon so that would correlate with his infantry slasher and stabber. Basically killing humanoids primarily, likely with lighter armor types.
Second, Ornstein's spear uses a rounded, almost ball like measure to prevent the spear from going in too deep in addition to the protrusions (I will call them handles). Winged spears always have something to prevent the spear from becoming embedded and lost. Ornstein has the ball thing before the handles. The statue spear has a handguard like Gwyn's sword.
Also, regarding the armor, it's like Gywn's robes. The shoulders are missing some flair. It could be Gwyn's robes but only if the statue is meant to be a young Gwyn.
EDIT: It's been a long time since I compared the two and that's what comes off the top of my head. Too lazy to find the original discussion.

Re: The Sunlight Shrine
Well.. It wouldn't surprise me if it WAS a statue of Ornstein. I mean there's also the fact that the Dragonslayer Spear scales with Faith, and the shrine gives you offensive miracles. I'd say the lightning bolts also remind me of Ornstein launching his thunder spear things that home in on you. Idk, this is just off the top of my head.

Re: The Sunlight Shrine
It could be. There's no hard evidence of who it definitely is. If it's Ornstein though it's an earlier version. Fitting with popular belief that would mean Ornstein is Gwyn's First Born and God of War, and rode into battle with similar armor to his father and a weapon that resembled Gwyn's but was more conducive to his talents. When he pissed Gwyn off, he was disowned and stripped of Godhood. Now there's a few other possibilities from there. He wasn't banished but demoted. Well you're not a God but you can be a demigod. Since you're still my son, how about you become one of the Knights. A step down but you're still here. The other is that he worked his way up the ranks in hiding and became known as his knew persona. Since I think there's a reference to the first born losing their memory either one could fit and Ornstein would just think he's Ornstein. I think other theories fit better (the god of war is Andre, ok? ) but there's nothing saying any of this is definitively untrue (that I know of or recall off the top of my head).

Re: The Sunlight Shrine
Though the statue is similar to Ornstien I have high doubts on Ornstien being Gywn's firstborn. I think that Brolaire is a bit better fit for the position but that's just me.

I haven't checked lately but is the head there? If so, I should think this would settle the arguement.

The head is in the weeds. The helm is pretty basic so it shows the face.......

Yes there is. I may remind you that Ornstein does not show a face ever for the player.
People say it is the Dragonspear still? Hm.

This is a bit weird but here - https://www.facebook.com/nick.forde.1
Thats me facebook; check out the cover photo. It's a photo i found a while backand i've been trying to figure who the knight on the very left is. All I can think is it's perhaps some old version of gwyn because he has the steel bracelets. Perhaps this helmet is similar?

Re: The Sunlight Shrine
That's Solaire. The helmet has a flair around the neck where it widens and he has the torn look of the cloth over the pauldrons. His bracelets in game and in that picture look a lot like Gywn's and the statues armor
