    Practice with Yours Truly

Post by lordgodofhell on Wed Jul 04, 2012 7:38 pm

If anyone wants to practice their parry with me on PS3 add me. Same PSN as my wiki name.

A couple points to our practice sessions

    - You may want to create a 40/40 build so that you can swing most weapons
    - We basically go back and forth parrying each other but not actually riposte. Once we have certain weapons down we move on to others.
    - Once you feel comfortable with the basic R1s and R2s one hand and two hand, we will go onto the more specific moves.
    - I have a good amount of weapons i can drop to you for the practice session so gaining all of them is not necessary

The soul level is 120 on my toon so anything within that limit and we can practice.

Once you practice you will surprised how simple the parry actually is. The most OP maneuver in the game.

I certainly have not practiced against all weapons and I always need to sharpen my skills so I would be grateful for your time.

We will basically go full havels or something similiar to reduce the amount of times we die from misses. I'll summon you via your rss

I have already done this with a few and they were nearly un hittable by the end of the practice. So if you are having difficulty executing it successfully in pvp, this is your chance to get a fair shake at it!

I would love to do this! I feel like I've gotten better at PVP recently (hit a mediocre-plateau for a while), but not being adept with parrying is easily my biggest weakness.

What do you mean by 40/40 build? What stats are suggested to be able to use most weapons?

just use base weapons if youre worried about dying or having to heal a lot.

And if you don't have time to cycle through all the weapons, just do aome of the most popular from each weapon class. Most greatswords, for example, swing at around the same speed. Or at least close enough to have nearly identicle parry windows.

I did this some with Brad today. Damage was gonna join in, but we were too SL. Lotsa fun, and great practice. I'm really starting to know how to Parry, but, also, I learn how not to be parried. Great kinda practice.

Indeed, Joe started to catch on but wasn't able to practice long enough to get it down.

parry practice is all well and good but not most used set up parries, most decent players will never allow themselves to be setup, you should practice baiting, and also parry punish with GC.

    Or using kicks to punish.

looking forward to the practice sessions today! I'm sure the session will evolve into what some of you are talking about, but the initial focus is knowing the exact windows of parrying. Can't go all out if my practice partner doesn't have this down.

Also, Billy, you would be surprised how effective this is when applied to real fight situations. I disagree with the fact that good players wont let you parry them lmao. They have to eventually swing at you, and landing on the first swing is important for these type of "hit and flip" fighters. Thankfully, a ton of players are noob and swing away at you making for an easy parry.

Lord, I know no one has replied to this thread in a while but I was wondering if you were still running these practice sessions.

...I feel like I should say Amen after asking that question... :suspect:

Yeah I'd be up for it. Also why not WSS because you cant still parry but not hit. I guess you can't lock-on though....
